Kansas State Univerity (Biology)
University of Connecticut (Master's)
Sacred HEart University (MEd)
I completed a BS in Biology from Kansas State University. After Graduating from Kansas State I was employed as Supervisor of animal care in the Biology Department at Yale University. I left Yale to earn an MS in Pathobiology from the University of Connecticut. I used my education as a tool to launch a forty year career as a successful professional Wildlife Artist. I quickly realized that through my artwork I was also teaching about science and nature. I returned to Graduate School to earn a MS in education from Sacred Heart University as well as a 6th Year MED in administration. I taught Chemistry at Shelton High School for eleven year before accepting a position as the Science Coordinator at Daniel Hand High School in Madison Connecticut. During my three year tenure at Daniel Hand, the school ranked among the highest achieving schools in the State on the Science CAPT. I have worked in my current position at Bunnell High School as an Administrator and Science Department Head for the past thirteen years. I am also an adjunct instructor at Housatonic Community College.
My areas of expertise are Biology, Chemistry, General Science, grades 7-12 as well as college level. I also specialize in preparation for the Connecticut Mastery Test and the State Science CAPT Test. It is important to understand individual learning styles. As an artist I realized how important being a visual learner was to me. I try to tailor my academic support to accommodate the learning style of each student. I will assign challenging home work after each session and provide timely feedback on student progress. I look forward to providing a high quality one on one level of academic support that will lead toward your academic success.
My level of content mastery in each area as well as my experience as a Department Head has allowed me to lead my teachers in developing a rigorous science curriculum that challenges all students as well as providing differentiated instruction aligned with the current State Science Standards and the National Next Generation Science Standards.
I feel a tremendous satisfaction when I complete a beautiful wildlife sculpture. I also feel a tremendous satisfaction when I am allowed to reach out and touch the future by helping a student achieve their academic dreams and success.
I encourage you to contact me about your academic needs and to learn more about how I can help you with your academic success.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
