Central CT State University (Elementary Educart)
I am an experienced teacher with a BS degree in Elementary Education. I have extensive experience in Early Childhood, grades K-8, and Adult Continuing Ed. I have taught in the Norwalk, Stamford and Stratford public school systems.
I have helped hundreds of students improve their grades, study habits and self esteem. My students have increased grade averages and improved their test scores. I specialize in working one on one with students to master the basic math skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Help increase reading levels, decoding, reading comprehension, spelling and grammar plus much more.
To ensure that students have a comfortable study space in which to work with me, I have a tutoring office in my home; however I like to meet with first time clients at the Stratford Public Library.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I hold a BS in Elementary Education grades K-8. I am presently a substitute teacher in the Stratford area. I am also a reading tutor with Literacy Volunteers. I know how to apply the necessary teaching strategies for all various skill levels.
I am qualified to tutor students in penmanship based on my Elementary Education training and degree. The instructional training I received in teaching students how to use their hands, wrist, elbow and shoulders through fine motor coordination will help develop the skills needed in writing for any student I work with. The first step of helping my students write is to teach them how to use their pencil/pen properly and giving them practice with simple line, circle, and half circle practice that will produce letter formation. My tutoring skills will allow me to teach students how to print letters or advance them to cursive writing. With practice and familiarity my students will gain the needed motor control allowing the flow and ease of writing.
I presently sub in the Stratford school district (for over 8 years), I tutored this summer for Housatonic Community College's remedial program, I work with the Stratford Continuing Ed students, and I presently tutor for Literacy Volunteers (for over 4 years). I am able to help all students and grade levels with their study needs.
