I taught in the Stamford public schools for 35 years. I also spent 17 of those years in the gifted department. When I retired, I went back to school and became certified in an Orton Gillingham reading program. I have been privately tutoring reading and math as well as substituting in public and private schools.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been trained to use Orton Gillingham --Preventing Academic Failure (PAF)-- at the Windward School in White Plains. I have taken numerous courses there as well pertaining to the dyslexic child. I have been successfully teaching dyslexic children for the past ten years using this multi sensory program. I have experience working with children with learning disabilities and am well aware of all the technology available to aid these children.
I have taught school for 30 years from grades 2-6 receiving 2 master degrees in elementary and gifted education.

I have been working to teach children cursive writing (as the schools have stopped teaching this skill). My training for the teaching of cursive writing was given and taken at The Windward School in White Plains.
