I'm Vienna! I graduated from Southern Connecticut State University majoring in Collaborative Education and STEM. Collaborative Education is a dual major where I majored in both General Education (K-6) and Special Education (K-12). After receiving my degree and certification in both areas, I became a math interventionist intern for 3rd-5th graders who were in Tiers 2 or 3 in the RTi process. A year later, I became a full-time 5th grade special education teacher. In this role I began teaching math skills/concepts, reading comprehension techniques, decoding/encoding through my Orton-Gillingham training, and writing.
After two years, I went back to get my master's degree in specialized instruction and assessment. As I was earning my master's degree at the University of Southern Maine, I was also attending Orton-Gillingham trainings to earn my Year 2 certification. It was this experience that heightened my ability to teach students who are in special education by utilizing a multi-sensory, diagnostic approach in everything that I teach.
I want to impact my students' lives as much as I possibly can and make learning an enjoyable, fun, and valuable experience for them as well as for their families. Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions you may have or to schedule a lesson!
