Hello prospective students and their parents. My name is Kimberly and I have lived and breathed education since I was in 5th grade. Through getting great grades and tutoring peers on the way to college, I knew it was my passion to teach. Before declaring my major as an undergraduate, my professors left individual classes in my hands with a lesson plan and class list. I expanded my knowledge with Dramatic Enactment, teaching through movement and communication, to a Masters in Elementary Education and a Post-bach in Special Education which involves students who are just in the 504 (general education but need extra assistance) categories.
I have worked as a paraeducator in public schools with students with severe to mild disabilities such as Emotional/Behavioral, Autism Spectrum including completely nonverbal, Mathematical/Linguistically challenged, and the like. I hope you will choose to shine with me in learning and growing.
I have great resources, engaging lesson plans, and multiple intelligences incorporated.
If something else is going on, I can see and work through that in a private way before and while tackling the content knowledge. My personal background and education in behavioral sciences makes me a great candidate to help with these such issues. Hello prospective students and their parents. We have hired Kimberly to help improve the handwriting of our 12 year old son. She was very patient and kind with our son. She took the time to get to know him even before she started and brought a special surprise for him on her first visit. That extra effort made a big difference for him.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Writing. Often times students do not write neatly because they do not know what to write so I can help with that issue. Next, I have worked with students on the Autism spectrum focusing on their penmanship and using various tools to develop their writing including shaving cream and other mediums. Thirdly, I have worked with Kindergartners who are just learning the letters and taught them methods for correct formation and kept on top of their letter formation. Lastly, my own son has had problems with penmanship (mostly due to laziness) but I was able to help him on his good days.
