Smith College (Env Sci and Policy)
My name is Areej and I recently graduated from college with a BA in Environmental Science and Policy. My strongest areas as a student and as a tutor are math and science. Some of the higher level classes I took in high school and have expanded on in college include AP Physics, AP Chemistry, and AP Calculus BC. In college, I also studied environmental sciences, physics, natural disasters, chemistry, calculus III, advanced calculus, engineering, thermodynamics, and teaching science, technology, and engineering. This knowledge combined with my communication and teaching skills will allow me to help you improve in your courses and exams. In addition, I have a background in and knowledge of standardized tests, which I have studied for, taken, and excelled in myself as well, such as the SAT, ACT, AP courses, subject tests, and the GRE.
I absolutely love working with students and my experience has greatly increased over my time in college. I volunteered at a Montessori school with a preschool class, I tutored elementary, middle, and high school students in Math, English, and Science, and I taught middle school students about sustainability this past semester. I am really passionate about math and science and I believe it really shows when I tutor and convey concepts and ideas to students.
As summer rolls around, I know that many of you are also looking for college prep. I am available for general SAT, ACT, and GRE tutoring, as well as SAT subject tests in mathematics, physics, and environmental sciences. I am also strong in writing and worked closely with the admissions department at Smith College, and so I would be happy to help students with college essays. In regards to general tutoring, in mathematics, I have a strong background in general math, algebra I and II, pre calculus, and calculus I, II, and III, and multivariable calculus. In sciences, I have a strong background in chemistry, physics, and environmental sciences. I would be happy to help students review these subjects or prepare for future classes and programs.
I use interactive and engaging methods to help students grasp the concepts and understand the subjects. I am available for tutoring almost every day between 10am and 5pm. My average base rate is $40/hour, but this depends on the subject, level, and number of lessons. I would be happy to discuss this further with you in person, over the phone, or via email. I look forward to helping you improve in math and science, get into college, and achieve you full academic potential! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
