As a retired middle/high school teacher with 38 years of experience, I have been gifted with a mathematical mind and love sharing that gift with others. During my years teaching I was named Teacher of the Year from my High School and UCONN Huskies/CONN Health Center Math Teacher of the Year. Not only have I taught high school but I have also tutored may people ages 10 to 65 who need help with math at all levels.
I specialize in Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry. I also have extensive classroom and tutoring experiencing with GRE, SAT, and ACT preparation. How to study and how to take test are something I also like to include in my tutoring sessions in addition to mathematical skills.
Each person I tutor is unique so I individualize according to their needs. Each individual will receive an initial assessments and intermittent assessments to see how they are progressing and to evaluate if there are any modifications needed.
I am generally available M T T F from 9 am to 8 pm and can go to your house or some public meeting place. I charge $60 per hour. Please give me 12 hours notice if you are unable to make our session.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught Algebra 1 in both High School and Middle School. I have also tutored many students both young and old who needed help with their Algebra skills. I try to help my students understand the concepts being taught using examples from the real world. My teaching style is gear to how the student learns the best.
Of all the different mathematical topics Geometry is the most useful in everyday life. During my teaching career I have taught all levels of Geometry from basic skill to honors. During my lessons I try to show how each individual skill can be applied to everyday life. I gear my teaching style to meet the needs of the individual student.
Prealgebra is the backbone of all the upper level high school math classes. I have taught prealgebra both in the classroom setting and as a tutor. I stress understanding of the material as well as it's application. I gear my teaching to the learning style of my student.
I am a certified Math Teacher and have taught and tutored SAT MATH Prep courses. In order to do well on this type of test you need to know the mathematics involved and how the test is set up. You also need to take as many of the practice test as you can and then go over each questions making sure you understand how to get the correct answer. In my lesson for this course I include Math topic the you need to work on and going over actual test.
