University of Hartford (Illustration)
I am 2014 graduate from the University of Hartford with a bachelors in Fine Arts and I majored in illustration. I have studied advertising, editorial, and book illustration, and I love to spend my free time drawing. My dedication to my work has granted me both the dean’s list and president list every year at the University, and I have received other awards including the prestigious Irma & Mort Handel Illustration Award and best illustration portfolio in 2012. I also have studied 2D animation and 3D character modeling.
I have decided to share my knowledge to any students who have the same passion for art as I do, and have taught some small classes on painting with a youth group. I want to help aspiring artists grow and be confident in their art.
As an art tutor, I know several different mediums to teach my students. From drawing, to watercolor, to digital painting. I have several different lessons based around drawing, from simple to complex. If there is a medium you want to learn, there is a good chance I can teach you everything you need to know about the medium.

I signed up my 15 year old son, Joshua, for 7 sessions with Zachary and he already had 3 sessions with him. My son, who's usually shy and timid, responds well to Zachary and has been been looking forward to his lessons! Zachary has a calm disposition that suits well with my son's temperament. Most of all, he's a great teacher and makes his lessons fun and exciting!
Zachary arrived on time and friendly. Now evaluated my daughter's skills and tailored her lesson. He went over the basics of drawing and gave her exercises to do daily to help with hand control. He also brought some objects for them to study and draw. He was patient and maintained her attention. He managed to correct her in a positive manner and kept her excited.
I am qualified to teach students how to use photoshop, because I have been using the program now for about 6 years. I spent hours teaching myself the basics through online tutorials and later took classes to learn more advanced operations and shortcuts with the program. I took a digital illustration course in 2012, where I learned how to use indesign, illustrator and photoshop. I have even taught a few friends and family members who were interested in learning the basics of photoshop. I have gone over basics like layers, brushes, and the rest of the tool bar with several people.
I am qualified to tutor in this subject because I studied drawing for several semesters at the University of Hartford. I studied basic shapes, created multiple still lifes, and took several courses in drawing anatomy and drawing from multiple models. I learned about several types of perspective, how to create strong composition with quick, simple sketches, and how to create the illusion of depth through my drawing for illustration class alone. I have taught kids at events how to create characters from basic lines and shapes as well.
At the University of Hartford I learned how to paint in multiple mediums, including acrylic paint, acrylic inks, watercolor, and oil painting. In each class I learned the pros and cons of each medium, how to properly dispose of any waste, and what types of techniques required to successfully use each medium. I have been painting professionally in the art field for almost two years. I have taught students how to work with watercolor in classes before, creating visual aids to help them memorize how to use the brush, how to mix the paints, and how to apply it to watercolor paper.
