I'm Spencer! I graduated from the University of Maine with a BS in Kinesiology. After college, I moved to Reno, NV where I spent time substitute teaching and coaching football. Next, I returned to my Native Connecticut where I began tutoring and instructing in weight training.

After working and traveling for a few years after college, I returned to school to pursue a MS in School Counseling. Though I decided that career was not for me, I learned tremendous skills that have been essential in my education jobs. Currently, I am pursuing a MS in Economics from the University of New Hampshire. I primarily tutor mathematics, English, economics, and various tests (SAT, ACT, GRE, etc). However, I have a wide range of insight, so I can help with a whole array of subjects!

My tutoring method is a combination of patience, persistence, and confidence building. After working with high-school aged kids both in the classroom and on the field, I understand the importance of these traits. I am patient with my students, working with them until the "training wheels" come off. My persistence means they always get an outstanding effort, where their success is my success. Lastly, I work to build confidence in all of my students so that they can face their studies with success.

I also like to take some time and help my students understand their goals, what success looks like, and structure our lessons accordingly. For example, if a student just needs to pass one test, the day after our lesson, we might take a "top-down" approach and focus on covering the weakest areas as much as possible. On the other hand, if the student wants to strengthen their understanding going into a new school year, for example, we may take a "bottom-up" approach and work on building a foundation of knowledge so they can succeed. Ultimately, each lesson will be different for every student.
