Hello! I am a certified elementary school teacher who currently teaches third grade. I have been teaching third grade for 2 and a half years now. Prior to teaching third grade, I tutored children in grades three, four and five. The academic areas that I have tutored elementary aged children in are mostly reading and math. I have experience with younger children as well. I completed my student teaching in a Kindergarten classroom.
My summer's are completely free and once the school year starts, I will be available twice per week to tutor. I am very flexible with my schedule and am happy to accommodate you and your family. I enjoy working with children of all ages and look forward to helping them grow.
I have learned several reading strategies as a teacher to help struggling readers. It is important to make reading fun, especially if a child isn't very interested. From decoding words to comprehending text, I am very enthusiastic in improving any child's reading needs.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Handwriting can be a very difficult skill for children, especially at a young age. It is important that this skill is practiced often, so that children can feel the formation of the letters of the alphabet. Constant feeling of the formation of letters will allow them to become familiar with how to properly form their letters, which help form words.
