Hello! My name is Gabrielle, and I am interested in English tutoring positions during the summer months while I have time off from my full-time teaching position. In 2013, I received my Bachelor of Arts in English and Secondary Education from Providence College and recently received my Master of Science degree in Teacher Leadership from Quinnipiac University. I am a well qualified and enthusiastic candidate!

As a 7th grade English Language Arts Teacher at Long River Middle School in Prospect, CT, I seek to create stimulating and prosperous academic settings in which my students feel like valued and productive members of a larger community. I am committed to promoting equity and excellence for all students, and I believe that establishing fairness and creating a safe and respectful learning environment is essential for academic success. Upholding high standards and offering continuous positive reinforcement will enable each and every student to reach his or her highest potential. Furthermore, I believe that parents should be considered partners in their children's education and encourage them to become the best students that they can be. A child's education should be treated with the utmost importance. Each student has individual worth and deserves proper attention and a personalized education that will enable him or her to become a thriving, socially conscious citizen.

Throughout each school year, I carefully construct lessons and assignments tied to the Common Core Curriculum Standards for English Language Arts and Literacy and utilize students’ interests in order to make their learning experiences both rigorous and enjoyable. I work with a number of students from different socioeconomic, ethnic, and educational backgrounds and adjust my instruction in order to meet their varied needs. I develop a unique and active intellectual atmosphere in which students feel comfortable exploring new concepts, sharing their ideas, and analyzing multicultural literature. I apply a variety of teaching methods, form cooperative learning groups, organize individualized projects, and facilitate student-centered discussions. Alternative assessment methods, such as portfolios, performance assessments, and presentations, in combination with traditional tests and quizzes, enable me to evaluate students individually and comprehensively. I continuously provide suitable opportunities for students to excel both inside and outside of the classroom and seek to help my students become successful members of our global society.

I believe that my instructional abilities, combined with my strong interpersonal skills and work ethic would greatly benefit students seeking additional assistance with English. I look forward to hearing from you!

Following my graduation, I began working as a substitute teacher at the elementary and middle school levels for the Naugatuck Public School District. I provided students from grades K-6 with instruction in a variety of different subjects. I worked with students in numerous classroom settings, implemented previously constructed lesson plans, and maintained order in the absence of the regular teachers. I also worked with students at the small group and individual level as a reading assistant and paraprofessional. I monitored student progress and recorded areas in which students experienced difficulties in order to ensure that teachers did not move onto more complex material before students fully comprehended necessary skills and information.
