B.A. Syracuse University - Newhouse
As a professional photographer who has been working in still life, family, pets, and wedding photography, I have a well-rounded background to help you learn new photography skills and improve the ones you have. We can go over the basics of using your camera, or work on lighting skills for product photography or family photography. Then we can follow that by putting those pictures into Photoshop to beautify or change them completely.
I studied photography at Syracuse's Newhouse School of Public Communications, starting in Journalism and switching to Advertising Photography. After graduating I worked as a photographer's assistant for many New York City still-life, jewelry, food and fashion photographers. I started shooting my own still-life, while also doing work like photographing children for a non-profit and being the second photographer for wedding photographers. I slowly started to focus more on weddings, people and pets, while also doing occasional product photography for businesses and museums. While I focus on seeing the light and making it work best for the photograph, I also do a lot of post-production work in Photoshop. I learned many skills while working with professional retouchers, and I am constantly adding to my knowledge.
I love showing people all the little things that can make a photograph go from OK to amazing. Some of this is about developing the skill of seeing the light, thinking about composition, and part of it is just little tricks I've learned along the way. We can work on any part of photography that you are interested in improving and end up with photographs you will love, all while learning a skill that will last a life time.
