As an upper elementary school teacher, the vocabulary and concepts tend to be more difficult. In science, I have my students complete vocabulary cards to use for studying content-specific words. These cards consist of the word, its definition, a sentence including that particular word, and a picture that shows how that word looks in the scientific world. Additionally, I find digital connections to more difficult concepts, including videos, audio recording, images, and interactive games.
