About Judith

I have thirty years of experience in embroidery, smocking, quilting, tatting, knitting and needlepoint. I was a member of the Smocking Arts Guild of America from 1987 through 2005 and a member of the Embroiderers Guild of America from 1997 through 2002.

I have taught individuals knitting in the past and some basic hand piecing techniques to beginning quilting students.

My expertise is in my needlecrafts and I sold embroidered projects at craft fairs for twenty years.

I am friendly, flexible and willing to encourage the next generation in crafters. Please contact me for help with your needlework.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Needlework

I have been knitting since I was age 10 and learned embroidery, quilting, and tatting thirty years ago.

I participated in the Smocking Arts Guild Artisan program but was unable to complete the final steps due to the loss of my primary job, which was unrelated to needlework.

I created embroidered and tatted projects for sale at craft fairs for a 20 year period and sold every thing that I made.

Sewing

I made many of my clothes for years until my regular job did not allow enough time to do so.

I studied fine handsewing for 20 years in seminars given by the Smocking Arts Guild of America. I still make my dresses when I go to special occasions such as a party or wedding.

I also have quilted since 1990 and pieced some quilts by machine and some by hand.

I am familiar with Singer sewing machines.
