Claremont McKenna College (Int'l Relations)
Hello, prospective students and parents!
Who am I?
I'm a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of a top ten liberal arts college, where I studied International Relations and Middle Eastern Studies. I spent two years working as a Research Assistant at an international law firm in Washington, DC, and one year on a Fulbright Scholarship in Bahrain. This Fall, I will matriculate at UC Berkeley School of Law, where I plan to concentrate in international human rights.
I've been published widely, most notably in The Wall Street Journal, Foreign Affairs magazine, and the Interdisciplinary Journal of Human Rights Law. I'm passionate about helping students make tangible improvements and helping them achieve their goals, and gain confidence in the process. I've worked with students and families on SAT and PSAT preparation, college list planning and essay writing, and general English language grammar and writing tutoring.
My experience includes three years working as tutor and college admissions consultant, both individually and for Transcend Academy, a leading comprehensive college admissions resources company in Washington, DC. I've tutored all sections of the SAT and PSAT, as well as general grammar, vocabulary, and writing. I've also assisted college-bound students with developing a college list and drafting their personal statement. I've also had experience working with students as a camp counselor and Writing Consultant at my college's Writing Center. Most importantly, I'm a flexible, creative, organized, and forward-thinking individual who is not afraid to take risks and encourage others to do the same.
What are my methods?
Having prepared for and taken the PSAT twice, the SAT three times (2270 cumulative score), the ACT once, and three SAT II Subject Tests (French, Biology, and Literature), I'm qualified to help others achieve success on these tests and other academic pursuits. Having received tutoring in a variety of group and one-on-one settings for all of the aforementioned standardized tests, I know which methods work. I've devised a unique method for tutoring reading and writing, both for students preparing for the SAT and applying to college and for those who simply seek improvement in their English language skills. My methods include long-term vocabulary retention, writing self-improvement, and taking tests under timed conditions, and they are highly personalized to reflect each student's individual learning style and preferences.
If you seek a personable and experienced tutor, please do not hesitate to contact me! Hello, prospective students and parents!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

In this capacity, I've applied my strong skills in research, writing, editing, and communications to make the college search and application process smoother for my students, and ultimately help them achieve success.
