Keene State College (BS in Geology)
I attended Keene State College from 2007-2012. KSC is part of the University System of New Hampshire. It is a Liberal Arts college in the beautiful southern New Hampshire region near Mt. Monadnock. The college has an amazing science center where I did most of my learning and studying. I achieved a Bachelor of Science in Geology with a minor in Environmental Studies. During my time at Keene State College I became a Professional Tutor in Chemistry and Geology through the Aspire Tutor Program at KSC. Before college I attended one of the best and brightest public high schools in New England: Granby Memorial High School (GMHS). The school achieved the Vanguard School award in 2006 for outstanding athletic achievement coupled with continuous years of academic excellence, and an unrivaled level of acceptance. While attending GMHS, I volunteered my time after school to tutor Middle School Students with learning disabilities. Subjects included Math, Science, Reading, Study skills, Test Prep, and Organization. I graduated High School in 2007 and immediately began my successful academic career at KSC. I graduated from KSC on May 5th, 2012. I have been consistently tutoring through WyzAnt for over 3 years.
I create a calm, motivating, and goal oriented environment where my tutor sessions are fun and comfortable! I establish goals that can be reached by the student with help from my teaching and guidance. The main courses I tutor are Mathematical courses through Algebra 2, Chemistry, Physical Sciences, and Earth Sciences.
All together, I have over 8 years of tutoring experience and 5 years of dedicated college education (including extra coursework throughout my college career). I have accumulated many hours of one-on-one and group tutoring through WyzAnt, Keene State College, and Granby Memorial High School.
Tutor sessions are most often meant to help the student understand concepts that may seem too difficult. My experience and academic qualities make me the right tutor to have for you or your loved one. I attended Keene State College from 2007-2012. KSC is part of the University System of New Hampshire. Jason is a very effective tutor. He has a positive attitude, is well organized and accessible. We brought Jason in to help our son grasp difficult chemistry concepts and strengthen his grade. He was in danger of failing his final exam. As a result of working with Jason, our son ended up with a solid grade on the final and the class. Jason is great to work with and we recommend him highly!
Jason is very patient and works to develop confidence and independence in his learner. He is extremely knowledgeable and my son likes his algebra work now!
My son is very happy working with Jason! He understands my son's learning style and has been very helpful, my son feels he is getting a better grasp on algebra I.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have much experience tutoring test preparation. I currently tutor many levels of Mathematics. Exceeding through Calculus 2 in college gives me the proper experience to assist you or your student in preparation of the ACT Math portion.
With a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology and minor in Environmental Studies I have an abundance of knowledge dealing with college science. I am familiar with what types of concepts and scientific principles are on the ACT science portion. I can help you or your student get the best grade possible.
Taking Algebra I and Honors Algebra II in high school and excelling into AP Calculus, then taking Calculus II in college gives me great knowledge of the necessary basic understandings of Algebra I.
Taking American History courses for a period of time at Keene State College gave me an interest and knowledge in the History of America. I am constantly studying documentaries and researching my family history which dates back almost 400 years ago to colonial America. Studying American History and retaining concepts can be difficult, and I make that fun and easy by improving test scores, and helping students do better on projects/homework.
I have an abundance of experience, not only tutoring chemistry but actively carrying out chemical experiments as a geology major. This allows me to have a great understanding of the basic chemical concepts, which i can express to my students in ways anyone can understand.
I have tutored K-6 students in Organization, Reading, Vocabulary, Study Skills, Science, and Math. I believe that good habits begin at the Elementary Level. My methods have proven success and I have a special way of making tutoring fun for Elementary Level students.
I have tutored younger students having trouble grasping concepts in basic elementary math. With one on one tutoring I can help your son or daughter with their math issues.
In grade school I helped children with learning disabilities in math and science at basic levels. My advanced understanding of math and science does not take away from my tutoring ability to break down concepts into simple lessons and teach the most basic concepts to elementary school students.
I tutored Geology in College and received my degree in Geology. I could tutor any Earth Science or Geology course, or related field, at any level.
Geometry, Algebra, Trigonometry are all necessary components to understanding geology and being able to calculate certain physical phenomenon. My understanding of these subjects is great, and I am able to break this down to younger children, or anyone who needs help in math.
Physical Science is one of my greatest strengths and I have a wonderful time translating important physical earth concepts to young kids, students of any age, or those going back to school again!
Pre-algebra sets the building blocks for more advanced math. Many of these basic concepts I taught to middle school students struggling with their Pre-algebra. This basic math is necessary for more advanced math and science.
