I have been a teacher of health and physical education for over 20 years, and have loved photography for as long as I can remember. I am an avid photography enthusiast with a solid understanding of digital photography. Although I routinely teach 20-30 students at a time, my real passion involves teaching very small groups and working one-on-one with people.
I love making connections with my students and watching them grasp new concepts that were previously foreign or difficult to understand. Because every student has different needs, I will work with you to set goals that suit your interests. I will teach you what you want to learn about your camera as well as how to take good photographs.
I offer a free consultation, to ensure that I can meet your needs and that I am a good fit for you as a student. After our first meeting, I will not charge you for any lesson unless you are completely satisfied and I have met your learning goals.
I have taken several photography courses, both online and in person, and have shot thousands of photos over the years. As a public school teacher, I have taught at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. I am happy to work with students of any age, as long as you are motivated to practice and learn!
I am flexible with my time during the summer. From September through June, I can offer late afternoon, early evening, and weekend appointments. I do have a 24-hour cancellation policy, but missed classes may be rescheduled.
I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better photographer! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Aside from being a Health and PE teacher for over 20 years, I have also taken several photography classes, both online and in person. I have have taken tens of thousands of pictures over the years, and I continue to learn new things about digital photography. I have my own photography website and have just recently started a small photography business. I truly believe that it is important to know the content that you are teaching. However, it is even more important that you are able to connect and interact with students in a way that allows them to be receptive to learning new information and practicing new skills. I know that I can deliver content in a way that suits each student and the learning goals that they set for themselves.
