About Jaunetta

My name is Jaunetta and I have been passionate about science since I was a kid. I used to do small experiments in the kitchen and look at objects/insects under my microscope. Now that I'm an adult, I still do these things, except now I do them at UCONN Health Center in a laboratory.

To tell you a little about myself, I graduated from UCONN with my bachelor's of science in Biology. I have recently graduated from the University of Hartford with a Master's in Neuroscience. Now I am attending University of Rhode Island to earn a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a concentration in pharmacology and toxicology. I was a teaching assistant at Three Rivers Community College for a biology course. My teaching style is very organized but relaxed and fun. I like to make jokes and little acronyms that make learning easier and more memorable. Tutoring is a two-way street to me. The tutor and the student both should work together to achieve the common goal. I am able to accommodate many learning styles. I understand that some people learn visually, manually and auditorily. I am able to assess the student and conform to the optimal learning styles for them. But, I never forget to have fun doing it.

Tutoring/teaching is a passion of mine that I have always loved. In today's society, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) career fields are booming. I would like to help more students gain interest in those subjects. Scientific knowledge is becoming more and more lucrative. I ,also, love when students gain empowerment through knowledge and understanding material.

I'm a multifaceted professional with experience in Biology, Ecology, Anatomy, Physiology, ASVAB testing, Grammar, and proofreading.

Please feel free to contact me with any inquiries.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ASVAB

I have taken several standardized tests to include the SAT, GRE and ASVAB. They are all similar in many ways. I was able to tackle them with head on success and achieve the results I needed to move forward in life.

Biology

I have Biology teaching assistant experience, and have a biology bachelor's and neuro science master's degree.

Genetics

I was a teaching assistant in a general biology course that goes over basic genetics. Since then, I have excelled at genetics classes in undergraduate and graduate level courses. I have probably taken about 10 credits of genetics coursework over my academic career.

Grammar

I have taken bachelor's level English courses.

Physiology

I was a teaching assistant for a biology course for two years. I graduated with my bachelor's in Biology in 2014. Anatomy and Physiology was a major topic in both of these settings.
