Hi, I’m Ellie! I recently graduated from Yale University with a degree in Jewish Studies, but largely focussed on world and European history in my studies.

I started tutoring in high school, where I stayed after class daily to help younger students with their work. I worked extensively with younger students, as well as middle and high school aged students. In college, I worked as a private tutor for high school students and helped them prep for their AP, ACT, SAT, and other admissions exams — I received near perfect scores on all of my myself. I had to extensively self-study for my exams in high school since my school lacked the courses that corresponded with AP exams, so I am here and ready to help you prepare and create an adequate study plan for these courses.

My tutoring philosophy is that everything is customisable to the student. I do not want my students to feel stressed, anxious, or worried regarding their coursework and I will do everything in my power to make my lesson plans customisable. The goal here is to approach the student and understand what you wish to improve — since every student is unique, every thought process and lesson should be as well; no one thinks exactly the same!

I now work in education and spend my days at a local university helping students with religious education courses and am very involved in the local university community.

At Yale, I won many awards and honors for my research regarding memory studies in post-World War Two Germany, and received funding on these projects. I also have won several religious studies awards for research in Israel, to uncover the history of the World War Two era in the country and how it itself deals with memory.

I am an expert in history because of my love of the topic — and I have the scores to prove it! I carried a near perfect history GPA during my university, received top scores on history SAT II’s, as well as the relevant AP exams. I can help and find the perfect way to convey the information to students to help them achieve their goals.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you have -- if your topic is a humanities or social science, there is a way I can help!

I worked as a elementary school teacher's tutor aid for four years, where I worked one-on-one with students of a variety of ages on everything from math to English to history. During college, I spent two years working as a private tutor to several high school students who were homeschooled for a variety reasons and understand the reasons that motivate a student to be homeschooled. I am familiar with the framework of a variety of online home schooling platforms (such as McGraw Hill's Connect program), but also am skilled in making my own material and lesson plans to match the student's individual needs for a variety of topics and material.

SAT Reading,

SAT Reading

I graduated from Yale with a reading-intensive degree in History and Jewish Studies (500+ pages of reading per week), which provided me the skillset to properly teach the SAT Reading section that I have been tutoring for the past seven years. In the past, I volunteered with an organization that helped low-scoring students learn the strategies and methodology behind the SAT, allowing them to reach their full potential on the exam. In college, I kept up with the exam (as it was completely redesigned in 2016!) by continuing to work with high school students and their mastery of the material in one-on-one lessons and in group classes; I have an extensive history of helping my students reach their scoring goals regardless of how high they aimed!

History

American History,

American History

I graduated from Yale University with a dual degree in History and Jewish Studies, which required me to take American history courses that focus on political, social, and cultural history and everything in-between. In high school, I achieved a perfect 100/100 on my final American history, as well as scored a perfect 5 on the AP US History exam and a perfect score on the SAT II in American history as well. At Yale, I was lucky enough to take small classes with the esteemed John Gaddis, who is known worldwide for his American history expertise.
European History,

European History

I graduated from Yale University with a dual degree in History and Jewish Studies, which required extensive coursework on European History topics ranging from Ancient Greece through modern topics such as the fall of the U.S.S.R. and the 21st century. I have five years of experience tutoring for the AP European History exam (after receiving a perfect 5 myself) and while in university, even worked in a research centre focusing on World War Two witness testimony. At Yale, I was lucky enough to take small classes with some of the leading experts in the European History field (such as John Merriman, who writes many of the textbooks on European History!) and have been lucky enough in my life to call cities such as Berlin, Athens, and Madrid home.
Religion,

Religion

I graduated from Yale with coursework in Jewish Studies, which required extensive religious studies coursework covering all three of the major Abrahamic religious -- Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. I also am lucky enough to have called Jerusalem home for a major period of my life thus far, and my research grants have allowed me to take on extensive fieldwork on the ground regarding the holiest sites in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam at places such as the Kotel, Al-Aqsa, and Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Examples of my coursework have included everything from research for, "Early Biblical History: the Foundations of the Abrahamic Religions" to intersectional religious courses such as "Women and Religious Conflict in the Middle East," and socio-political courses on Israel and the Arab Spring, just to provide a few examples.

College Counseling

While an undergraduate at Yale University, I volunteered with an organisation that trained me on the college admissions application process and paired me with high school students to provide one-on-one advising during their application process. I am familiar with the Common Application in the USA, among other application systems, and am a former frequent college advising guest for high school admissions panels in New York public schools (my home state). I have also worked as a student admissions representative at Yale University for two years, where I held public Q&A’s in rural communities about the college, SAT, and admissions process. I have experience with answering college application essays of all sorts (even University of Chicago’s unique questions!), as well as interviews and other elements of the application process.
