My first job tutoring was at a community center, teaching grade-school students reading and mathematics. My most recent position was as a Peer Advisor at Harold Washington College. I tutored Biology, Physiology, Chemistry, and Calculus. I have worked with students in their teens, twenties, and thirties. My first job tutoring was at a community center, teaching grade-school students reading and mathematics. My most recent position was as a Peer Advisor at Harold Washington College. I tutored Biology, Physiology, Chemistry, and Calculus. I have worked with students in their teens, twenties, and thirties. Time and time again, I have seen that magical moment when the light bulb clicks on, and a student feels the pride and accomplishment of having conquered some challenging problem or concept-and I love it!

My tutoring approach changes a bit with each student, depending on where they are, where they want to go, and what learning styles they prefer. One common element though, is that the concepts are explained using everyday scenarios. Personally, I learn better when I understand how math and science relate to real life, and when I have simple examples that drive home important concepts. Students I work with enjoy this, because it makes all the big and scary math and science palpable and easier to digest. I can explain entropy and spontaneity with a story about how your room gets junky. I draw pictures and diagrams-a lot!

In terms of credentials, I would like to share a few words on what I have done, and what I am working on. Last year, I received my Associates with High Honors, from Harold Washington College. About a month after that, my overall score ranked in the 98th percentile on the Pharmacy College Admissions Test (PCAT). About six months after that, I released my first book, "21 Days to Good Grades: Modern guide to college math and science". I spent 3 months working very diligently to explain strategies that enabled me to independently improve from a 2.0 GPA to a 4.0 GPA and from a 78th percentile to a 98th percentile rank, because my ultimate goal is to help other people on their own journeys of academic improvement.

Currently, I am acting as a private tutor to help keep my skills sharp until I continue my studies at Yale, this fall. I am spending the next few months tutoring students and helping them with their success stories in STEM. I would be honored to help you with yours.

MCAT,

MCAT

Through independent study, I increased my rank from the 78th to the 98th percentile on the Pharmacy College Admissions test. I use lessons, from the book I wrote on how to study math and science in our modern age, to help students understand what standardized tests are and how to nail them! I am able to tutor various subjects (critical reading, chemistry, calculus), because I focus on problem-solving ability. Once you become a good problem-solver, math and science become much more manageable.
TEAS,

TEAS

I tutored for Chicago City Colleges math and science encompassing and exceeding the subjects tested on the TEAS exam. On the pharmacy college admissions test, I scored in the 98th percentile on Chemistry and Biology, 97th percentile in Critical Reading, and 85th percentile in mathematics. I have worked with students preparing for the PCAT, MCAT, and TEAS, so I have developed great methods to help students score well on these big exams.
