I am currently a graduate student at Yale University, enrolled in the joint PhD program in Classics and History. I have a BA from the University of Oxford in Classics. I have experience taking the SAT, SAT Subject Tests, and AP Exams, and I had a 3.8 (unweighted) GPA in high school. Because I speak German at home and have studied Latin language so rigorously in college and beyond, my skills in these fields are extensive and I have learned a lot about how best to teach these languages from some of my own teachers over the years.

I have two younger brothers whom I've helped with homework since they started elementary school, and I have experience babysitting and helping with homework outside of my family as well! Through my babysitting experience and my love of academia I became interested in tutoring. I'm patient, hard-working, and very passionate about giving my students the best possible experience I can.

I have loved languages since a very young age. I speak German at home with my parents, and took Latin to AP level (grade 4 on Latin) through grade school. I got above 700 on the Latin and German SAT subject tests. I studied Classics at Oxford and am currently a PhD student in Ancient History at Yale, two institutions which pride themselves on their rigorous language training. Again, I am very patient and love spreading my love of languages.

I received a 5 on the English AP Exam and love reading and writing. My undergraduate course requires me to write 4000 words a week, so I have gained even better writing skills than I had in high school. I have always been very good at grammar, and my study of Latin and Ancient Greek has only solidified this. I often helped other students when they were studying for the SAT and for English tests during high school, and have paid close attention to how my own teachers teach.

Please do get in contact with me if you would like any more information! I am happy to provide specific scores and further information on my qualifications/experience. I know how much it can mean to ha

Approved Subjects

German

German

I speak German fluently because my father is originally from Germany. I went to a German elementary school for a year in Bremen (where no English was spoken) and a German international school in Maryland for three years after that, in which all subjects except English were taught in German. I received a 790 on the German SAT Subject Test. I spend a lot of time in Germany with my grandparents and cousins, all of whom speak no English.
Grammar

Grammar

I received good scores on the SAT Reading/Writing sections and currently write about 5000 words a week for my undergraduate degree at the University of Oxford. Because of all the reading and writing that I do, my grammar is extremely good and I am a very skilled proofreader. My study of Latin has solidified my understanding of grammar, and has made me very good at explaining grammatical concepts.
Latin

Latin

I received a gold medal (summa cum laude) every year I took the National Latin Exam in middle and high school (8th-12th grade), and received a 4 on the AP Latin exam and 720 on the Latin SAT Subject Test. I currently study Classics at the University of Oxford, and received First Class Honors on Honour Moderations (second year examinations), with exceptionally high marks in my language papers. In high school I often tutored my peers in Latin language and grammar.
SAT Writing

SAT Writing

I received a score of 780 on the SAT Writing section. I took rigorous English courses through high school, getting a 4 and a 5 on the two available English AP exams. I currently study Classics at the University of Oxford, and I have to write two essays (4500-5000 words in total) per week. I proofread my peers' essays often, and did so in high school as well.
Spelling

Spelling

I have been reading and writing a ton my whole life, and I currently have to write over 4000 words a week for my undergraduate degree. Because of this high output, I have become very good at spelling, and my love of reading (for pleasure and academic purposes) only strengthens this. I have always proofread essays for my peers through high school and in college, and am known to be very detail-oriented and attentive when it comes to catching spelling errors.
Vocabulary

Vocabulary

I have been reading and writing a lot my entire life, and this has given me a large vocabulary. My study of Greek and Latin has only helped this, because it has given me extensive knowledge about the roots of many words. I received a 4 and a 5 on the two available AP English Exams.
Writing

Writing

I am a current PhD candidate at Yale University and hold two masters degrees and a BA from the University of Oxford. I have a decade of experience with collegiate writing, both as a writer and as an instructor/tutor.
