About Pamela

For the past 17 years, I have taught public school, adult education courses and Undergraduate humanities, communications or developmental reading and writing courses. I have enjoy the benefits of teaching, which includes meeting and helping students and/or adults accomplish academic goals to improve their future lives and performance. Some of my teaching experience included homebound and/or hired tutoring to improve academic skills and/or test taking techniques.

I am at a point in life that I feel I have too much free time on my hand since my nephews and nieces are all grown and out of state. Thus, I desire to delve back into tutoring. It has given me professional joy and satisfaction, and I was pleased when my students achieved their goals.

It is important to know that I have a great grasp of adaptive/assistive technology experience, and have been honored for my detail to follow Individualized Educational Plans or 504 plans/modification for all grade levels. I am also knowledgeable of certain math and science curriculum also. Hope that this bio helps you choose who is best to service you or your child.

I have 17 years of experience teaching such subjects at the secondary and Undergraduate level. I teach and correct their weakness by revising the flawed areas, teach what is incorrect, how to make it better with a detailed straightforward rationale. It makes it easier for me to reach and teach each student and demonstrate growth through their comparison of initial work to each progressing assignment.

I have a deep understanding of the curriculum expectations associated with common core for many subject areas, and can donate how to master objective through practice, reflection, and more practice.

I have completed 36 special education course credits ( with a passing Praxis score for certification). I have worked well with students with Aspergers for years, many who are independent, hard working members of society including active service in the US Military, technical positions, and detail oriented jobs. They are judged by their performances, not the fact that any have Aspergers.

If you feel that I may be the one that you seek, feel free to contact and ask for me. Thank you for your time.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Aspergers

Have taught several students with Aspergers for 13 years at the secondary and Undergraduate level. I have taken at least 36 credits hours in Special Education, many of those courses discussed how to approach and teach autistic and Aspergers students. I have also passed the Praxis examination for Special Education, which would allow me to apply for Special Education teaching license.

Public Speaking

Have taught Communications/Public Speaking undergraduate courses for the past 10 years (Gateway Community College). I am an adjunct professors of the Humanities and on average, I teach 2 courses in this subject area per semester. I lecture on the foundations of oratory process, guide students how to create topic, analyze audience, outline and write speeches, rehearse and aurally deliver their presentations to their peers as part of their final grade, as listed in my syllabus.

I also taught public speaking courses at the high school level for 3 years.

Writing

19 years teaching English teaching experience in the undergraduate and secondary school level.
