About Paige

Hello!

My name is Paige and I am a recently received my undergraduate degree in English from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA. I was also fortunate enough to study English at the University of Oxford in the UK during my junior year. Both educational experiences have expanded my love of English literature and writing!

I began tutoring during my freshmen year of college in the Writer's Workshop. I was formally trained in a semester long course that enabled me to work with any college student, regardless of their major. I continued tutoring in the Writer's Workshop for the remainder of my time at Holy Cross. Due to my positive tutoring results, I was also asked to work as a Writing Fellow during my sophomore year. A Writing Fellow is assigned to a freshmen class and works closely with these ten to twelve students throughout the academic year. This experience allowed me to track their growth and better customize my tutoring strategies to each individual's needs.

I have also spent my summers teaching a four-week long summer class for incoming college students. I designed each hour long class to ensure that students would be fully prepared for the rigorous nature of the academic school year.

I am seeking students who wish to improve their English reading and writing skills. I believe in innovative, engaging, and individualized approaches to learning. I also value one-on-one tutoring because it allows me to see the students progress academically and personally.

I am patient and always eager to customize each tutoring session to ensure that the student reaps the most benefits possible. I am open to teaching all grade and skill levels, and promise to make each session interactive and enjoyable.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions! Looking forward to working with you!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bible Studies

I have taken many religion courses throughout my college career and received an A in all of them. While my knowledge of bible studies extends beyond the courses I took, I have listed the specific courses below:

*The Prophetic Imagination (focused on cultivating a preferential option for the poor, which is expressed in the Gospel of Mark).

*Bible and Literature (focused on the entire Old and New Testaments through a literary perspective as well emphasizing the moral teachings)

*Liberation Theology (a specific form of theology that emphasizes liberation from social, political, and economic oppression as an anticipation of ultimate salvation).

*God, Christ, and Salvation (focused on the Old and New Testament and other specific theological doctrines)

*New Testament Theology (an in-depth study of the New Testament)

Handwriting

I have worked with multiple third grade classrooms to teach penmanship. I have not only helped students improve their print, but their cursive as well. Working with a younger audience has endowed me with the ability to create fun and engaging lessons to help students improve their handwriting.

Public Speaking

As a summer writing teacher, I worked extensively with a group of first year college students to help them prepare for a formal debate. Consequently, a large component of the debate focused on honing their public speaking skills. Since I worked with this program for three consecutive years, I have a lot of lesson plans about public speaking that can be implemented for both in-person and online tutorial sessions.
