About Lauren

I am from New Fairfield, CT. I received my Bachelor's of Science for Elementary Education and my Master's of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from the Neag School of Education at UConn. I have a variety of experiences teaching students. I love working with students and helping them learn.

In addition to a variety of volunteer experiences throughout CT, I completed student teaching in a first grade classroom in Willington, CT.

This past year, I was involved in two different internships for my masters year. This past fall I was chosen to study and intern abroad in London, where I worked one on one with a new student from Italy, teaching him English and grade one content. For the second half of my master's year, I interned at an elementary school in Windham, CT. I provided individual and small group literacy intervention for students in grades K-3.

I currently work as a permanent building substitute teacher in a pre k-2 school.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I graduated from the Neag School of Education at UConn with my bachelors of science for elementary education and my masters of arts in curriculum and instruction for elementary education. I completed student teaching in addition to clinical placements and internships in Connecticut and London. I currently work as a permanent building substitute in a pre k- 2 school. I am very enthusiastic about helping children learn and grow!

Reading

I passed both the foundations of reading and Praxis 2 tests for my elementary education degree.

Study Skills

I graduated with both my bachelors and masters in elementary education at UConn. I have many diverse experiences teaching students as I have completed student teaching, internships, clinical placements and currently work as a permanent building substitute. I have a 3.88 overall college GPA and therefore am capable of teaching personal and research based study skills.
