About Marianne

Greetings to All,

I have been a school psychologist for the past 29 years. For 19 of those years, I was the school psychologist for a middle school in a local school district. Since 2007, I have worked in both the public school setting and privately with students and parents.

My strengths are in working with students who need some extra attention with regard to academics, social skills and/or special needs, learning disabilities, ADHD, and Aspergers.

The range of my expertise covers Reading, Writing, Executive Function and Organizational Skills and Social Issues. I like to begin my work with each student by first agreeing on what the goal is that we are to achieve in our work. The next step is to design a plan of action as to how we to achieve our goals. We then consistently monitor our work and build in whatever adjustments are necessary to achieve success.

The focus of my work with students is always to help them succeed to the best of their abilities. Using the right tools and learning strategies can provide each and every student with the ability to achieve greater success. I look forward to meeting and working with you to achieve your goals.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I have been a practicing School Psychologist for the past 29 years. For nineteen years I was a full time School Psychologist for the middle school in Darien, CT. Since that time I have worked as a consultant to local public school districts. In addition, I have worked with individual students and their parents on a private basis. My experience includes work with students who have ADHD and Aspergers, as well as a full range of other disabilities.

Aspergers

As a practicing School Psychologist for twenty nine years, I have worked with a full range of students who are classified as having Aspergers. In working with these students in both a one-on-one and group setting, I addressed issues related to social skills and additional difficulties they experienced.

Dyslexia

I have been a Certified School Psychologist for the past 29 years. For 19 of those years I was the school psychologist working in the middle school of a local school district. Since 2007, I have consulted with school districts and worked with parents and students in a private practice. As part of my work, I have had much experience diagnosing students, who are experiencing difficulty in academic areas. Frequently, the underlying difficulty is based difficulty in their reading ability, or what is commonly referred to as dyslexia. Once diagnosed, I have had much experience in developing programs to assist students in compensating for their weakness.
