Golden State Baptist College (MBA)
My name is Steven, and since graduating from college I have enjoyed working in various student programs both in local schools and in my own church student department.
Because I was raised in a bilingual household, I am able to teach and explain the Spanish language in a natural, easy-to-understand manner.
In high school and college, I excelled in both math and science classes. During my college career, I completed several advanced mathematics classes up to Calculus 3.
As a successful high school and college athlete, I acquired coaching and physical education training skills which I have used from a fairly young age to help young people develop their abilities in their areas of athletics.
I truly enjoy helping young people to learn and achieve in their chosen fields of study or interest. I believe that my work with students in the past thirteen years has given me the ability to relate well and communicate effectively with children and teenagers. I look forward to meeting your student and realizing the possibilities of what we may accomplish together!
I will be offering private basketball lessons during the summer months. Please contact me early so that I can arrange gym times for our lessons.

Steven has been a tutor for our family for quite some time now and has been excellent. He picks up the fragments of what I learn in school and puts them together for me. Steven has tutored my brother for some of his high school career and I am happy to report that he is enjoying college at Georgia Tech. Steven is very patient and understanding with me and adapts to my learning style. Many of the problems I come with he has already seen many times before and really helps me to excel in my classes. Overall, couldn't ask for a better tutor!
Great first session! Steven was very informative and answered all of my questions. He is very patient and seems to have a knack for zeroing in on the areas where my daughter needs work! I am looking forward to working with you to build her confidence and skills in math!
Steven has really helped my son in algebra. He has a way of teaching the concepts that make it easy to understand.
Steven has exceeded my expectations for a personal math tutor for my teenage son. Steven is professional, personable and very patient; above all, he is proficient in math, and in teaching math. In just two lessons he was able to discern my son's weaknesses and his learning style. From there Steven has been able to adapt his teaching to accommodate these factors. Steven easily captures and engages my son's attention and makes him feel confident about his work, which gives my son a great sense of accomplishment. Thank You Steven!!
Update 5/18/14: Thanks to Steven we have a confident teenage son who looks forward to math class and math tutoring. His grade has skyrocketed and he now enjoys downloading math apps and winning. His SAT score also improved! He also feels completely ready to take on his ACT this summer. THANK YOU!!
Steven tutored my 6th grade son for the first time yesterday evening. My son hasn't responded well to family members trying to work with him and in fact would usually get quite frustrated and upset. He seemed so relaxed and confident after meeting with Steven for just an hour. He said he was so nice and my son said, "I didn't feel totally dumb when I didn't know how to do something". He said Steven just nicely and calmly showed him how to do it! Refreshing to see my son not being a basket case after working on math problems! I'll post more when I see his overall improvement after some more sessions.
Update: I now have my 15 year old daughter seeing Steven as well. After her first meeting with him a few months back, she aced her test. She loves his tutoring style! Both of my kids have benefited greatly from their tutoring sessions and are doing great!
We've only had one session so far, but we are getting on a regular schedule. I am not sure exactly how but in one hour my son's confidence level in his math skills skyrocketed. Steven was able to take a few concepts that he was struggling with and make them so easy to understand the my son was laughing at how easy it was.
I am not a big review guy - but Steven is already worth every penny - I am buying a package today!
It's been a few months now and my son's confidence in his math skills continues to grow. I just received a text from school after his last math test, "We just finished the test and Steven is a psychic. She just showed me my score and I got 100% and I got a recommendation from the school to take AP classes next year because of my PSAT scores". I am not saying Steven did it all but he deserves a ton of credit. Thank you Steven.
My son continues to flourish in math and I believe that it has everything to do with his work with Steven. He has not only learned to apply the tools and concepts he has learned from Steven, but he is now asked by his teachers on a regular basis to teach and explain the concepts to his classmates. I am not sure how we go so lucky our first time out - Steven has been a game changer for us. Thank you.
Steven is patient and really paid attention to how my child learned best. Will is much more confident in his own abilities.
Steven is the best!!! We are so grateful for his time with both students. He is a tremendous help with their math lessons.
My son has only worked with Steven twice and you can immediately see his confidence level grow. Steven stated after the first session that my son had all the math concepts, and showed him the small mistakes that were being made. My son's grade in math has improved with each homework, quiz and test since.
Thank you Steven for your encouragement. It really means a lot to us.
My son was anxious throughout the afternoon because he knew there were things he simply didn't get. By the end of his hour with Steven, a cloud had lifted from my son's head and he felt like he "got it"! Steven is encouraging and speaks in the language in which the student learns best.
We enjoyed meeting Steven yesterday as did our son. Upon talking with our son after the session, we think Steven is a wonderful fit to help him become successful and are looking forward to keeping him onboard with us! Steven is extremely knowledgeable and professional, yet down to earth and on our son's level as well. Very impressed so far!
Will hire him again soon. He is very astute in the game of bball and knows his stuff! My son was preparing for feeder tryouts and can say with confidence that he helped him mentally and skill wise.
Steven is an excellent tutor! He's patient and attentive and he's very flexible while focusing on a variety of different concepts in both Algebra II and Physics. Thank you, Steven!
Steven is an excellent tutor and has been the best investment we have made to help our son with his math class - precalculus. My son came to Steven ready to give up and frustrated, after one session with Steven my son learned more about the subject than he had learned in the classroom. My son was stressing over a quiz, well after that session with Steven he passed that quiz and had confidence! My son said he broke the problems down to where he could understand! My son will continue to work Steven, he is an asset to my son education.
My son had his first session with Steven and left feeling so much more confident in his grasp of Science! He has been struggling all year and it was great to see his confidence improve so quickly. He said that Steven made Science interesting and was able to explain concepts so that he could relate it to his real world. As a parent I am extremely impressed with the impact Steven made on my son in just one session and would highly recommend him! He was prompt, professional, interested & gave great feedback on the session. We look forward to continuing to work with Steven!
Steven is fabulous with Ryan. Steven comes Friday at 4 after a long week of school and Ryan never complains. He looks forward to Steven coming over because he learns so much which makes him feel more confident in class! Steven is very patient and encouraging!
Steven is not only extremely knowledgeable, but he is extremely patient. His style and use of online tools fits perfectly with my high school aged son! I will continue to use Steven whenever possible!
Thanks so much for your flexibility! Steven is always willing to accommodate our changing schedule. He's easy to get a hold of, willing to change at a moments notice, and is consistently easy going and willing to help. He is clearly interested in helping my daughter understand the curriculum and is very genuine with his concern. Thank you Steven for all your help!
Thank you for getting off to such a great start. You are really connecting with our son and he is feeling more confident already!
How do you even begin to look for someone to tutor your child in a subject that he/she might need extra help? Perhaps I just lucked out however we could not be more pleased with Steven and his tutoring of our son for 8th grade spanish.
He learns more during that occasional hour with Steven than weeks in class. I have primarily used Steven to prepare my son for tests, and he always does great.
Like many parents we thought that we could help our son prepare however, the difference between our study session with our son and Stevens is night and day. Typically our study session turns into a dreaded a argument which does not benefit anyone.
I told my wife, "What do we have to lose?" We are both extremely happy we found Steven.
Steven is an Excellent Teacher! My son's 1st semester for 6th grade Math was a struggle. The start of 2nd semester was even worst. He was not passing any graded classwork, quizzes or test. I knew we needed a tutor quick and someone who was experienced, smart, patient, and kind. We found that person in Steven. My first encounter with Steven was very pleasant and he understood the urgency of preparing my son for the Math reassessment which he scored 48% on the initial test. With a few days to prepare, Steven was able to fit my son in his tutoring schedule at the last minute. When I received an email from my son's Math teacher, we were very pleased to know that he scored a 92% on his Math reassessment! I asked my son what does he likes best about working with Steven. He said, "Mr. Steven knows how to break things down so it is easy to understand." I am more than pleased for having Steven as my son's tutor. He is "a keeper". My son's confidence level has increased in Math and I thank Steven for this!
Just after two tutoring sections, my daughter's grades improved significantly from failing on her class to A grades. Strongly recommend to everyone.
Stephen has been an outstanding tutor for our boys. He is always punctual and communicates with us ahead of time. He is very knowledgeable about the subjects in which he tutors. He supports the boys and encourages their self confidence in Spanish and Math, much like a big brother, by letting them know they are performing well.
Steven M. is a wonderful young man who is kind and courteous. He responds quickly to my emails and is flexible with scheduling. After just one lesson, my son felt a bit more confident about the material and his ability to do well in class. Needless to say, we have scheduled another session with this very professional tutor.
I could not be more pleased with Steven. He has brought my son's grade up in Science. He has given my son confidence. He is patient and he teaches in a way that makes my son look forward to the next session.
Steven is a very patient and knowledgeable tutor that connects well with our son. He has helped raise his grades in a short period of time.
Very happy we have Steven!
We've really enjoyed working with Steven. Steven is easily accessible by phone and accommodating to make an occasional adjustment to our schedule. My sophomore really enjoys working with Steven and has raised his grade in Geometry considerably since starting tutoring sessions with Steven. We can't say enough good things about Steven's tutoring skills and ease to work with!
I really could not say enough about Steven. He has motivated my son and is the reason why my son is back on track. Steven is extremely patient and polite. If your looking for a great tutor he is your guy! Thanks so much Steven!
Steven has well prepped me for my upcoming college prep exam required to enter my program of study. Steven covers all the details and has helped me look at algebra and math in general in a new light.
I highly recommend Steven as a tudor. He is very patient and great to work with. My son went from failing his Spanish Class to passing with ease. Look no further.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Over the last five years of being a Youth Pastor at my church. One of the jobs that I have carried has been to design cards, banners and special tracts for various occasions.
I have used Photoshop in several college projects in the past and I also have been offered part time work in a graphics design shop after they did some of our printing.
If your looking for some Photoshop help you've come to the right place!
I've played basketball for 20 years. Since third grade in my elementary years I was fortunate to play on special club teams and all-star games. In high school I had some really good coaches who taught me the fundamentals of the motion offense. In particular, Coach Howard (who was the assistant coach of Arizona State when Byron Scott played for them) taught me a great deal. As a senior, I made the all conference team in the central valley league in California. In college, I played for a private college and I was second in the nation in the assist category.
Through the years, I have been able to coach young kids from ages 10 and up. I have also officiated many games up to the high school level. I believe I can teach players to improve their skills and understand the concepts of basketball to be able to play an important role on any team of which they are members.
