Hello. My name is Melanie. I am 30 years old and I have been a professional nanny for over six years. I am elementary ed certified, have a degree in professional writing as well as CPR, first aid and epi-pen training. I currently reside in Naugatuck and am looking for new students. I am looking for a new position, have served as a house manager and personal/administrative assistant and ideally like to feel like part of a family. I consider myself very organized, a multitasker and well educated. I would love to talk about implementing a schedule and helping you specifically in your subjects. Thank you in advance.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My degree was obtained at Western Connecticut State University as a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education K through 6th grade. I did my professional semester in a second grade classroom for over six months, taught in a fourth grade class for three months and have also privately tutored students over the past seven years within their homes. I focus on strategically creating an engaging learning environment through practice and provision in all core academic subjects.
After completing six years of college and switching majors half way through, I most certainly learned how to practice and implement time management as well as helping your brain to process and remember information for studying and for the future. Also, in privately tutoring students while differentiating my instruction within the classroom, it is important to know that we are either visual, auditory or kinesthetic learners. I know how to break it down for each of these types of students who are struggling in preparing for exams.
My parents started me in operatic voice lessons at the age of eight. I took them until I was thirteen. In middle school, I was in our larger choir as well as a Select Choir which traveled throughout the state to sing in competitions. From there, I sang in high school in the Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Madrigals and Girls Ensemble. I auditioned and was selected to perform in statewide championships including but not limited to Allstate and Southern Regionals. I won awards for my voice and had solos my last three years. We also went on school touring trips to West Virginia, Canada and Germany. My first two and a half years of college I majored in Classical and Jazz Voice and also sang in the choir. I have the years of experience to offer helpful tips to new prospective and aspiring musicians.
