About Gill

I have been a teacher since I was in my teens. I first worked with elementary-aged children during their summer camp. I rode the bus with them every day while we traveled together to the site. After one particular summer, I knew I wanted to be a teacher and have never regretted my decision.

In the past, I have worked with preschool children doing such interesting courses as baby exercises and play time together with mommy and child.

I taught in an elementary school with a classroom of children where we even produced a play complete with scenery and costumes for parents and other students to enjoy.

My final professional career was spent at one of CT's vocational technical schools where I worked in the SPED department for 20 years. Currently, even though I am officially retired from getting up at 5:30 in the morning, I work part time at Mitchell College in their tutoring center.

I have currently been at Mitchell College in their tutoring center of 14 years. Additionally, I work at a school which offers a transition year for students with Learning Disabilities. Both tutoring positions are one on one with students in a variety of subjects.

I have a very wide range of experiences and would like to continue to share my teaching expertise with other students of various ages and personalities.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I taught elementary special education from Sept. 1971-June 1979. I have a masters degree in preschool special education and also a masters degree in TESOL. Additionally, I have #65 endorsement in special education from state of Connecticut.
