My name is Alexandra. I learned Spanish at the age of 10 in El Salvador, Central America and at the age of 14 in Lima, Peru. I love to teach Spanish. I am also a Bilingual and ESL Teacher. I love to teach and play tennis. I am very creative with arts and crafts. I love to swim and travel. I enjoy helping all ages with Spanish, tennis and many other things!
I am fluent in Spanish. I have my Master's Degree in Spanish. I am fully certified. I feel I can speak like a native Spanish speaker.
I was a Spanish tutor for the Milford Board of Education for grades K-12 and college level for over ten years. All of my students were able to return to their Spanish class and continue their study. I have taught Spanish in the public schools in Connecticut for sixteen years. Our goal is to achieve 80% or more to reach their level of Spanish in grades 1-6 through instruction and assessment. I enjoy presenting cultural lessons during the year like teaching "las posadas" during Christmas time, explaining Cinco de Mayo and singing happy birthday in Spanish. We also have fun with arts and crafts along with many fun songs in Spanish.
During the year 1982 I was a translator for the Greenwich Public Schools. I really enjoy working one-on-one, in small groups or in a classroom setting teaching Spanish. I look forward to many more years of instruction as a Spanish Teacher, Bilingual/Dual-language teacher and/or as an English as a Second Language Teacher.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I feel I am qualified to teach Spanish as I grew up in Latin America (El Salvador, Central America and Peru in South America). I have taken advanced classes in High School for college in Spanish. My minor for my Bachelor of Science was in Spanish. Later I earned my Master's Degree in Spanish in Connecticut. I was a tutor in the town of Milford for at least six years through the Milford School District (for elementary to high school) and for private students. I have taught Spanish to elementary level for sixteen years in my school district in Orange. I love teaching Spanish!
