Hi there! My name is Charlie and I love science! I graduated from Skidmore College in 2016 with a degree in Environmental Science. I was a TA and peer tutor during my junior and senior years and went on to work as a science teacher at The Frederick Gunn School in Washington, CT for 5 years. I have also taught summer school at Phillips Andover Academy and Choate Rosemary Hall. Throughout my career, I have taught courses including earth & physical science, biology (regular, honors, and AP), environmental science (regular and AP), chemistry, and global scientific issues. I have also coached rowing and have enjoyed building relationships with students inside and outside the classroom.

My goal as an educator are not only to help students thrive academically, but to also show them the fun and everyday value in the sciences. I prioritize the building of skills over sheer memorization, as these are the essential tools that will help students to find success regardless of the field they go into. There is nothing that brings me more joy than watching kids develop a new passion. Several of my students, who started out dreading lab reports and the scientific method, have gone on to major in environmental science or biology.

I am easy to get ahold of by phone or email. My flexible schedule and methods allow me to accommodate any needs, limitations, and learning styles. Please reach out to me with any questions!

The most important quality in a teacher is a true love of the subject, which they can then impart upon students. I found this passion in high school and have gone on to work in labs and even publish my own research in a scientific journal. Furthermore, I believe that real learning must be a partnership. A mentor and a student must work together to achieve success in this endeavor. My energy, passion, and patience make me an ideal partner on the road to success.

I am happy to answer any questions you may have, so please reach out so we can discuss how I can help you to achieve your goals!
