New York University, NY (Psychology and Educational Theatre)
Sacred Heart University, CT (Master's)
Dear Parents and students,
Teaching and learning should be fun! At least that is what I believe and that is how I try to run my classes. I like to call it the giggle factor. If you are laughing, you are enjoying your learning experience as well as boosting your immune system. Yes you have to work, and some subjects may be harder than others, but working hard is rewarding and can even be fun.
Most recently, I have been teaching psychology at NVCC. I have also served as a long-term substitute theatre arts instructor at Brown Middles School in Madison while their regular teacher is out on paternity leave. I run my own business and teach all over the state of Connecticut. My teaching experience spans over two decades and I have worked with students of varying skills, abilities, and special needs, as well as running my own business teaching children's theatre workshops and producing and writing children's plays. I also have ABA training, much of which specifically targeted toward students with Autistic Spectrum disorder.
My undergraduate degree is in Developmental Psychology as well as Educational Theatre, with a Master's in Teaching. I have taught many special needs students in my acting classes as well as my academics. I am uniquely qualified and highly motivated.
Qualifications include, but are not limited to, over fifteen years of classroom teaching, teaching a special needs class in the public schools of New York City, worked with both the Boys and Girls Clubs and the Urban league in Urban city environments, taught special needs students my entire career ... ranging from selective mute, autism spectrum disorder, hearing impaired, learning disabled, hyperlexia, etc. and I have data collection training as well as ABA training.
Thank you for your time, attention, and interest. I look forward to working with you or your child.

Elise is a kind and experienced tutor. We feel very fortunate to have found her. She is patient, thoughtful, and responsive, and has a wonderful manner with children.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
