I have previous experience in tutoring as well as teaching. I currently am in my 3rd end route to my 4th year working in the school system. I have a special passion for math and children with learning disabilities, so I am currently a special education Paraprofessional. Because I love working with people in general, I plan to get my graduate degree in special education or human services.
These education skills and experience in the classroom , has not only motivated me in my career path but in my passion for helping others. It is always hard when struggling in school and I have found that I love being the person someone can turn to; whether it's because a student is falling behind, wants to stay on target or simply wants to get ahead.
I am also very social and easy going and this definitely helps in tutoring. There are many professors/teachers that are intimidating and haven't found ways to reach every student in their class and my personality allows me create a comfortable atmosphere for my students.
Math has always been a passion of mine. Although , I did not do my undergrad in math, it is still a skill I possess. I would love to work with your student , because I know math can be tough for many individuals.
I have been working in an elementary school for 3 years and have had previous experience in elementary classroom settings.
I have been working with children with Autism for a little over 3 years now. I was originally a 1:1 special education Paraprofessional for a 4 year old in kindegarten; Emily and I are now in the 2nd grade. Because of behavioral issues, we have been moved to an ABA ( applied behavior analysis) classroom where I assist my student as well as 9 other children with autism. Their behaviors and intellectual vary and because of this, I have learned to adapt and find what works for each student.
I would love to work with you child in assisting them on their educational path. Although I have only selected a few skills for tutoring, I am a very well rounded individual. From life skills, test taking, hand writing and basic bookwork, I am here. Feel free to contact me at anytime. I have previous experience in tutoring as well as teaching. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
