I have stated my credentials and background. I believe that in order to be a good teacher/tutor, one must possess, first, the knowledge, second, the willingness and sensitivity to the needs of the student, and third, to support the student as he/she moves forward in their academic goals. When students choose to be tutored because of whatever need they may have, they take the step of opportunity to help themselves to overcome any comprehension issues they confront during their studies.

There exists for me in the several years of my being involved in the education of adults, a deep enthusiasm to be of help to students in reaching their academic goals, and then seeing them actually reach those goals successfully. It, therefore, becomes a tremendous sense of satisfaction for both the students and myself to say "I did it." Education is the key to success in life, and my motto has always been: "Good Education, Good Job, Good Life". That can also be applied to "Good English" as well.

My interest in helping students gain their academic goals through supplemental tutoring has been one of the major goals in working with students in the areas of English as a Second Language from Basic to Advance levels, which include speaking, reading, listening, and especially, writing (so important to college level academics). In my nearly 20 years of teaching English, my experience has been that as students attain their language proficiency, the results has been my adopted motto: Better English, Better Job, Better Life. Some students have actually been in touch with me after graduation to let me know how they are progressing and have always expressed their gratitude for what they learned in my classes and how they have applied that learning in their jobs and in their lives. It's always a very rewarding experience for both them and me.

In adult education curriculum, reading and writing is a very important factor for having a successful life. That has always been the mantra in my 22 years of teaching experience. I have a BA in English literature and a MED in Education, and currently teach for Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) in Hartford.
