"The most precious gift you can give someone is your time."
Whether you are a: parent who is concerned about your child, student who is struggling with a course, special needs student with ADD, Aspergers, Dyslexia, Autism, corporate executive that needs to learn a new language, someone who has to pass a course to keep your job, college, graduate or PhD student who needs help with your papers, ESL/TESOL student who needs to improve English speaking/writing skills, HS student who struggles with the SAT or ACT, medical student doing an internship and needs proof reading, GED or ASVAB candidate and needs to understand Math or an ELA test taker and need fine tuning, I can help, whether you need help ONE-ON-ONE or ONLINE.
With many years of experience, I like to give back to others. I remember when I was in 4th grade and I was having a very difficult time with my English class. Two teachers took me "under their wings" and tutored me on their off-time. I never forgot that. By the 6th grade I was the winner of the Spelling Bee, outperforming all the kids. As John Lubbock said, "The important thing is not so much that every child should be taught, as that every child should be given the wish to learn." My wish continues to be to learn, along with everyone that I teach!
I am currently teaching at the Graduate, High School and Elementary levels. I make learning fun! The subjects that I tutor are English, ESL (English as Second Language), Math, Science, Social Studies, Languages, writing, reading comprehension, SAT/ACT comprehension and writing, college essays, Elementary and Intermediate Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, GED, ASVAB, TOEFL, Science and all that interest me.
I have experience in preparing foreign language students for the TOEFL exam. I specialize in test taking strategies, and techniques.
In fact, on the SAT, several of my students increased their scores by 120+ points, with only 4-6 sessions of tutoring. That score means the difference between being accepted by New York University, Princeton or a State School.
I believe that I can make a difference for someone else, and that could be you! So if you would like to have fun while you learn, let me help you to be all that you can be. I also passed the background check with flying colors, so you can be sure that I am an honorable citizen. I have over 1041 EXCELLENT feedbacks too!
I understand that things come up. However, I have many students that I am working with and need 12 hour advanced notice for a canceled lesson; otherwise, you will be charged my rate. Cancellations must be done via text, and or phone. DO NOT SEND AN EMAIL to cancel a lesson, because I may be working with students and do not have access to the internet. Text is the number one choice, voice mail is second.

Patient, easy going, knowlegable
Lisa has been working with our son for about one month and we already see results. He is very difficult - stubborn and distracted, but Lisa has "worked around" and made him put qualitative practice effort.Jasmina, 10 lessons with Lisa

I decided it to get a tutor because I was getting ready to take my GED math test and I only had two and half weeks to prepare. Lisa was the perfect tutor. She is organized, smart, nice and super patient. She worked so hard with me in every lesson and she always make sure that I understood everything. Lisa has many wonderful techniques for teaching. I'm just glad that I had the chance to get her as my tutor.Maria, 7 lessons with Lisa
Lisa has only been working with my daughter for a few weeks, but I have been impressed with her enthusiasm, dedication and the way she has structured the lessons. It is hard for my daughter to stay focused when she is bored, but she always seems to be alert and engaged while working with Lisa. My daughter and Lisa share a love for animals, and Lisa has used this to bond with my daughter and keep up her interest level. Lisa is also a very caring person, and when she found out that I had terrible back pain, she went out of her way to bring me a natural remedy to try to ease the pain. Since school has not yet started, I have not had the opportunity to assess my daughter's progress, but I am confident that, as she continues to work with Lisa, I will see improvements with her reading and writing.Ann, 16 lessons with Lisa
I took her lesson the other day. We chat with what did we during the past week before we start lesson. I think that she finds my weak point of English while we chat. She understands my weak point well, she teach me exactly. In addition, I enjoy taking her lessons because she is friendly.Kozue, 22 lessons with Lisa
Great tutor for TOEFL test!
I feel that I finally found the right tutor to prepare me for the upcoming TOEFL test. After we talked only briefly, on the first day we met, she immediately spotted my weak points. She is very experienced and knowledgeable about the TOEFL test. She is also very patient, friendly and easy to work with. She gave me an assignment based on what areas I needed to strengthen. The TOEFL test requires very fast thinking and speaking skills. Even when I was working under pressure; speaking about my various personal experiences, I still enjoyed her lesson. I would like to keep training with her, because I am sure that I am in good hands.Saori, 7 lessons with Lisa
Good tutor but unaccommodating with scheduling
Lisa is very good at identifying weakness and helping to build on them. She is very patient and innovative in her teaching methodology. Since she has started giving Spanish lessons to my son (in high school) his grades have considerably improved in a very short time and he has become more confident of his language skills. The issue I have found with her is that she is unaccommodating in her schedule. It is hard to find a reasonable time for classes and it is almost impossible to move classes because her days are packed. I was most disappointed when my son was late for the class and in spite of informing her, she charged me for a full lesson and left without teaching. I had to let her go at that point.Raavi, 17 lessons with LisaTutor responded:
Its true, I am very patient and innovative in my teaching methods, but there is a discrepancy pertaining to the scheduling. My days are not packed as stated, but my schedule does depends on the needs of ALL my students. In this instance, it was never made clear to me that I had to stay and wait for 45 minutes for the second student to come. In addition, the son had a full summer schedule leaving little time when we could do the session. This was a 2 part session, with the second part beginning at 630P, but because of the lateness that would put the lesson from 715P to 815P. I could not stay beyond the original session time due to other commitments. In addition, my decision to no longer tutor there was ALSO based on the fact that this was NOT the first time that they were NOT able to make their session. I forgave the missing session LAST TIME, but this time only billed for the time that they were not able to keep their commitment. They never made it clear that I had to stay for the second part of the session. My policy is clearly stated on my site. As many of my long time students know, I often stay longer than I bill for, and I expect my students to keep their commitments, as I am committed to them.
