I am a chemist by profession and have worked for three major corporations formulating rubber for coated fabrics. I hold three U.S. patents. I have a BS in chemical engineering, an MS in chemistry and an MBA from Sacred Heart. I have tutored one on one three daughters through middle and high school in all phases of math from algebra I and II through plane geometry, statistics and trigonometry as well as some chemistry, but I prefer the algebra. I am very meticulous and patient as each daughter had her own temperament and skill level, and I was able to help each of them. I also tutored GED math at Mercy Learning Center in Bridgeport this summer. My modus operandi is to be well prepared for each tutoring session by doing any homework in advance of the student to enable helping him/her gain a better understanding of the assigned work. All students I have tutored have significantly improved their test scores and overall grades. I have brought students from failing grades to A's and B's. I helped a young nursing student improve her GED math score by over 30% enabling her to get her GED certificate. I tutored my daughter in GRE math and she doubled her score after taking the test the second time.

Carl is very thorough, prompt, reaches out to be sure sessions are scheduled, and sends additional practice material in advance of sessions. I would recommend him highly, and am very glad we started the year out working with him rather than waiting until there was a backlog of questions or material my son did not understand.
Carl worked with our son on various math topics in order to help prepare him for a placement exam. Carl was very patient and knowledgeable on all the topics.
Carl taught my daughter honors geometry. He is well prepared in advance for each tutoring session. I am very happy to have him helping her.
He is very patient. He cares. Not only during the time you are with him, but also when he is at home. I will recommend him to anybody. He is wonderful!!!!!
Today is the first class with Carl. He is very patient in explaining the math problems. My daughter understood thoroughly all his explanations. I wish I knew him earlier to take his help.
Thanks for your comments, Vani; I look forward to meeting with you and your student again. Please let me know what she is working on so I can be better prepared.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I recently passed the qualification exam by scoring 100%. The test included problems on area, volume, averages, arithmetic and geometric progressions, equations of lines via slope and intercept, word problems and factoring.
