Hi! I'm Amy. I lived in Japan for six years, teaching English as a foreign language to students of all ages. At my previous job, I taught only preschool children (I love kids!), but I miss talking with adults to help them improve their English.
I enjoy reading and writing, so I would love to help students with any of their English assignments.
I have a TESOL certification and am a published author/editor.
I have 6 years of experience teaching in Japan.
I'm a former Speech-Language Pathologist.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Master's Degree in Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology. My specialty while working with children was phonological disorders and accent modification, as well as assisting students (most of whom had dyslexia or dysgraphia) with oral reading and reading comprehension. I organized and led a summer reading group in 2010 with assistance from a multi-sensory tutor who also specialized in teaching phonics.
