Manhattanville College (History)
I recently graduated Cum Laude from Manhattanville College where I double-majored in History and American Studies. I received Departmental Honors from the American Studies Program, Departmental Honors from the History Department, the Howard Bloomquist Award for the highest achievement in the History Major, and a Certificate of Completion for the Castle Scholars college-wide honors program.
While attending Manhattanville College I took as many History and American Studies courses as possible. I relished these courses and learned so much from each one. The History courses I took went far beyond memorizing names, dates, and events. They taught me critical and analytical thinking and writing skills. They also challenged me to consider how history is written and the limitations on historical interpretation. During my time as a underclassman at Manhattanville, I received the Best Freshmen Essay Award, the Sophmore History Achievement Award and the Junior History Achievement Award. My passion for History was not limited to the classroom. I served as the president of the college's history club. The History Club held student discussions, debates, faculty lectures, and screen showings. We also gave historic tours of the campus. I also served as a peer tutor for World History, American Development I/II, and recent American History. I have a strong passion for History and am thrilled at the opportunity to share this love with others.
I served as a peer tutor for World History, American Development I/II, and Recent American History. I met with students one-on-one and in small groups. At the end of each session I filled out a progress report for my supervisor.
I volunteered for the Arc of Westchester's programs Images and Writing and Touch of Theatre. These programs were sponsored by the Duchesne Center at my school. In these programs, I helped teach photography, writing, and dance to young adults with special needs.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
