In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
To master Russian language you have to learn phonetics, grammar, syntax and vocabulary. Any course I give in Russian, is based on audio listening, speaking and reading. Tutoring is successful if the teacher applies special approach, depending on the level and needs of a student. I take into consideration the goals of the students, their abilities and preferable ways of training and learning. Russian language is one of the Slavonic group, and some peculiarities of grammar and syntax have no analogue in English language, so cultural and historical explanations, comparison with English are to be given during the course. My experience in teaching foreign languages is over 20 years, as well translating from English into Russian.
