Bio

I am currently a student working towards becoming a Technology Education teacher and have experience in tutoring others through the college I previously graduated. My favorite thing about tutoring is seeing students go from "I can't do this" to "I understand this now." Seeing minds blossom and understanding increase brings me joy. I remember everyone whom I have tutored in the past and am happy to say they still remember me and the sessions we had as well.

I also have experience in fields outside of tutoring and academia with regards to health and understanding people in different situations and walks of life. I promise to everyone I help the same thing, that I will be understanding of who you are and what you need and will help you in any way I can.

I was a Math tutor at Middlesex Community College for 2 years where I tutored Math from pre-algebra to College Algebra. In my last year of tutoring I helped one student in Math to where he went from potentially not passing to scoring just under 100 on his final.

While working at Middlesex Community College I was also an English tutor where I proofread papers in person and through online submissions. I also assisted students in reviewing papers from almost every subject and helped them to develop better grammar, sentence structure, essay formats, and development of ideas.

I have never given up anyone whom I have tutored and I do not plan to do so anytime in the future. I promise to do everything I can to ensure future students' academic performances improve. My methods of tutoring are based on experience tutoring people with various preferences for learning and what I find to be the case for individuals on a case-by-case basis. Along with that, I have been notorious for being more patient with troubled students than other tutors.

Video Production

My experience in video production started before I began a degree in Technology & Engineering Education where I learned production and editing techniques through the advisement of professors as well as self exploration. In my degree, students are required to complete courses involving video production with software such as Premiere Pro and After Effects, both of which I have worked with. When I begin teaching, one area I hope to be involved in is Video Production, so I would consider myself to be comfortable and well-versed in the content.

Much of my experience as a tutor has been in core subjects at the collegiate level. Considering the GRE is a test involving Mathematics, English and other subjects students come across in college, my background is a good foundation for tutoring in preparation for the GRE. In addition to core subjects, I also am fond of working with deciphering meaning behind text and would be able to transfer that knowledge to students who are not as confident with questions which are not straightforward.

Microsoft PowerPoint

I have been using Microsoft PowerPoint and similar programs (i.e. Google Slides), often navigating between different programs, for years. Microsoft Word

I have years of experience using and assisting others in the use of Microsoft Word and similar programs (i.e. Google Docs). My time using Microsoft Word for personal and professional applications has been well over 10 years, with my work assisting others spanning nearly as long. For professional applications, I have used Word in writing and developing reports, various versions of lesson plans, curricula, unit plans, and am even working on writing a novel.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

I am qualified to tutor public speaking as I have experience both tutoring and performing in the subject. At my previous place of work public speaking was one of the subjects I tutored for two years. I also practice speaking publicly regularly at my current job working at a planetarium where giving presentations and speaking publicly is a regular occurrence. My experience in tutoring Public Speaking ranges from assisting students with formulating and organizing speeches to reviewing presentation techniques and rehearsal of their speeches before finally giving a speech.

I feel comfortable using Revit and am planning to expand my understanding and ability with similar programs to be a better teacher.

Solidworks

I was formerly involved with a company who used SolidWorks as a way of introducing students to CAD, CAM, and 3D modeling. I will be teaching SolidWorks in the Fall and have experience with it and other softwares, but have found SolidWorks to be the most user-friendly based on its layout.

Grammar,

Grammar

While working as an English tutor at Middlesex Community College, one of the main aspects I focused on in students' writing was to make sure they used proper grammar. Knowing how much of an impact grammar has on the meaning of words and sentences, I regularly review proper grammar skills and practice as I review. In order to keep my grammar skills at their best I read regularly and review examples of both proper and improper grammar.

I would review students' papers alongside them to show what does and does not work in an essay as well as review papers on the computer and send students back a copy of their papers with annotations and revisions which were made electronically. I was so proficient in reviewing essays and paper submissions at my previous job tutoring I was able to keep our influx of essays controlled and provided students with reviews on papers within less than a day.

While I was an English tutor at Middlesex Community College a big part of what I helped students with was interpreting and understanding stories or excerpts they had read. Another big part of my tutoring career was reading students' essays and determining what each essay I read was trying to suggest or say. To keep my reading skills strong, both for myself and so that I may help others, I read regularly and encourage others to do the same.

I was previously an English tutor at Middlesex Community College where a good portion of my time was spent helping students revise and improve their writing styles. I have helped students to become stronger writers and better formulate their ideas into concepts that can be put to paper. My assistance was not limited to the times when students would be writing or reviewing their papers, but also before writing when students were coming up with different things to write about or had difficulty formulating an essay and determining where each of their ideas should go. I have also done informal writing to practice my writing skills.

My experience in sewing began with analyzing the seams of clothing, mainly jean pants when I was young. I have since taken a course in high school on sewing and fashioning clothes.
