I have a B.S., M.S., and a Ph.D. in pharmacology and spent 15 years teaching pharmacology, physiology, biochemistry and cell biology to pharmacy, nursing, medical and dental students as well as basic science students at undergraduate and graduate levels in universities in the US and UK. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students.
