About Ryan

Ryan J. is an accomplished guitarist, composer, producer and bandleader from Monson, MA. Graduating with high honors from Berklee School of Music with a degree in both Performance and Music Production & Engineering, Ryan spreads his focus to include both the creative side of performance and the coordination and execution of many musical projects. Ryan received the Engineering Scholar Award from Berklee, and has produced and engineered a multitude of recording projects of various natures. Ryan is an avid songwriter and will be producing and recording his debut album of jazz/acoustic compositions in spring of 2015. Ryan is the guitarist and bandleader Blackout Funk, The Soulfront Band, and the Ryan Johnson Group. He also performs with the Alchemystics and The Long Tones.

Ryan has extensive knowledge and experience with Music Theory, Performance Techniques, Guitar Pedagogy, Songwriting, Music Production, Engineering, and Bandleading!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I am a professional guitarist and bandleader, and have been performing extensively for the last six years. I am a graduate from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Music Performance as well as Music Production and Engineering. I have an very strong knowledge of guitar pedagogy and techniques.
