I used Mr. M. as a tutor for Precalculus, and he was very knowledgeable about the textbook I was using and the material being presented. Before every session he texted me to ask what our session would cover, and he came prepared with examples and practice problems. He was flexible about timing and was willing to reschedule either the time or location to convenience me. He was very smart, friendly, and informative. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have experience teaching Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Precalculus and Calculus, so I can tutor Algebra 1 with insight of how Algebra 1 concepts relate to these higher level math courses. My about 6 school years of teaching experience includes 2 years in a non-public classroom at one to one student to teacher ratios per class (up to 8 classes-students at a time).

I am particularly qualified to tutor for the quantitative (math) sections of the SSAT, given I have been a teacher of secondary school (upper/high school) mathematics (Algebras 1 and 2, Precalculus and Calculus) and have held CT certification for teaching secondary school mathematics.

Trigonometry is typically taught as a component of other subjects. I have taught trigonometry as a component of Precalculus in a non-public school on a one to one student to teacher context as well as in a typically populated public classroom.
