Hey! My name is Grant and I am a recent graduate of UNC Chapel Hill. While there, I double majored in statistics and business while taking actuarial exams on the side (I have passed 4 actuarial exams so far: probability, financial mathematics, financial economics, and short term actuarial models). I have been tutoring privately for over six years now and during my senior year of high school I worked at my local Mathnasium and helped students of all ages in their various math courses. I have loved math since I was a child and I try to share this with as many students as I can.

I am different from other tutors because, as someone who recently graduated high school, I can relate to students in ways others can't. I know where they are coming from, their current curriculum, and I even remember the tough units they might be struggling with! I am able to explain difficult concepts in ways that will make sense to students. I got A's in all my math courses in high school and only missed one question on the math section of my SAT. I understand all the concepts and will be able to help your student understand them too. Families appreciate the hard work I put into my tutoring and show their appreciation by calling me back. I actually receive the majority of my new students through parents talking and referring me to their friends.

I recommend that we meet more than just once before a big test. Weekly or biweekly meetings will be most beneficial to your students understanding of math. Some nights will definitely work better than others but I will try to be as flexible as I can. Just let me know what time works for you and we can try to figure something out.

I look forward to meeting you and helping your student develop a passion for mathematics!

Calculus,

Calculus

I received a 5 on both my AB and BC AP exams when I took calculus in high school. I feel confident about this material and know that I can help students make sense of the complexities of calculus
Precalculus,

Precalculus

Precalculus is my most tutored course. Many students find this class to be difficult as it takes concepts from algebra and geometry to the next level. Because of how much I tutor this course I created a "Master Pre Calculus" course on Udemy with over 6 hours of videos and practice problems that I give for free to all my students. I have a lot of materials on this course and am fully prepared to help any students grasp the concepts and get prepared for that calculus course that awaits.
SAT Math,

SAT Math

I only missed one question on the Math section of the SAT when I took it in high school; I understand the concepts the College Board wants students to know and I can explain them to other students. I have helped many students improve their SAT scores in the past.
Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Prealgebra

Great math tutor!

My daughter really hates to miss her weekly lesson with Grant - he teaches in an hour concepts she struggles with all week. She is in Algebra II but I am confident his abilities would help students in much higher (and lower) concepts.

Responsive!

As the mother of the student being tutored I love how quickly Grant responds to my emails, questions and concerns. My son is not super thrilled about seeing a tutor, so doesn’t have much to say, but has admitted Grant is very helpful!

Big Recommendation!

Grant is a great tutor! He's very patient and very efficient. Whenever I had trouble with a problem, he would explain the problem very clearly until I got it. He made sure that I understood each concept and practiced enough for all of my tests. I definitely recommend him as a tutor in math. Grant loves math and it shows through his tutoring. A big thumbs up from this grateful 9th grader

Grant is just what we needed

Grant is prompt, friendly, courteous, and easy to work with. His explanations fill in the gaps left from the classroom teacher's poor instruction. My son's grade went up instantly and he is much less frustrated now. We've been very happy working Grant!
