I've always thought math was fun and science inspiring, which led me to study mechanical engineering at the University of Virginia. I was successful because I always try to use math in my daily life, and I see science embedded everywhere in the world around us. School doesn't always make math and science relevant and interesting, but it is something I try to do when tutoring.

At 12 I started tutoring my younger sister and learned that she picked up the lesson faster if I could make her laugh. I tutored students throughout high school and mentored at a local boys and girls club in college. After college, I volunteered as an assistant math teacher for a 7th-grade pre-algebra class and I've volunteered as a GED tutor for incarcerated women. I enjoy tutoring and can work effectively with children and adults in a variety of subjects.

Throughout all of it, I've kept doing it because I love seeing the look of recognition on a student's face when they suddenly understand a concept. And I've been successful because I'm a creative teacher, looking for ways to customize the lesson to the student, and I keep lessons fun.

In math, I specialize in tutoring arithmetic, pre-algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, precalculus, and probability. In science, I focus on physical and earth systems science for students aged 5 - 18. Please inquire if you don't see a desired subject in the list above as it is not a comprehensive list.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Great Tutor

Andrew helped my son with Algebra II/Trig Honors. He would show him how to think through problems, sometimes in different ways than he started with. He would always say it was very helpful.
