About Ryan

I love teaching, helping others and problem solving. I am a very patient person and I relish the challenge presented to me with each new student and enjoy learning how to help them succeed! I work for the "Aha" moment, and love when my students can tell me they understand the subject or inform me of a good grade they have received!

While in college, I achieved a 3.18 GPA and obtained my Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at Colorado School of Mines and became EIT certified. Math is my strongest subject. I earned high test scores in calculus and other related math engineering courses while attended CSM. Courses included: Calculus I, II & III, Statics, Differential equations, Mechanics of materials, Physics I & II and Dynamics. I feel I can confidently teach algebra, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus, geometry, and physics.

In my current professional position as a Pipeline Engineer for Tallgrass Energy Partners, I work daily with Microsoft office product and I have gained extensive experience with Excel.

I also coach a swim team. I have coached upwards of 130 swimmers ranging in ages from 5-18 years of age. I have taught swimming lessons while coaching the youth swim team for the City of Westminster for 5+ years and helped numerous kids learn important swimming techniques and fundamentals. Race times greatly improved.

I currently volunteer tutor for the Bridge Project in Denver, CO. This has been a wonderful experience. Last Spring, I helped a younger student with his attention span ability and capability of understanding word problems. Grades increased from Cs and Ds to As and Bs. While attending college, I tutored my friend's younger sister in math and was able to help her move her grades from Cs and Ds to As and Bs.

I would love to help you succeed! I feel I can provide a comfortable and inspiring work environment! I am a very dependent and reliable person and I am willing to go the extra mile to help you succeed! Whether you choose me or not, I wish you the best of luck and certainly hope you get the help you need from anyone else you may choose! Thank you!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

My educational background is engineering required me to take an array of math classes. I have a strong understanding of algebra, geometry, calculus and physics. The tutoring I have done in the past was for algebra and geometry. The students I taught saw their grades increase from Cs and Ds to As and Bs.

Golf

I have been an avid golfer since I was about 7 years old. I have a strong understanding of the swing technique used for each club. I understand the mechanics of the game not only when it comes to club selection and how to swing but also how to handle the mental challenges you must overcome to succeed in this sport. As a current coach, I love teaching technique in sports.

Mechanical Engineering

My current Bachelor's of Science degree from Colorado School of Mines is in Mechanical Engineering. I took multiple mechanics classes and also have an understanding of how to use SolidWorks.

Microsoft Excel

I use Microsoft office products daily in my current engineering position. I understand how to manipulate excel files in just about any way desired. I handle and analysis large quantities of data in my current job and know which tools and formulas to use to give you the quickest and most usable results for the type of analysis you are trying to perform. I also understand macros.

Microsoft Word

I use Microsoft office products daily in my current engineering position. I understand how to manipulate documents to set them up and present them as desired. I know the basics of certain types of actions such as formatting, styles and presentation formats. I also have great typing skills.

Poker

I know how to play multiple poker games including Texas Hold em and 5 card draw. I have played in a couple tournaments and was able to last a while before losing by chip stack. I understand how to bluff during the play of the hand and know how the gambling portion works as well. I can make sure you have a fun and productive game the next time you play a poker tournament!

Swimming

I swam in both high school and college. I also currently am a swim coach and have coached for almost a decade now. I understand the technique for all the 4 basic strokes (Butterfly, breaststroke, backstroke and freestyle) and can give you a good swim set if you want to get a good swim workout. I have coached many children, teens and adults.
