About Victor

Are you struggling with organic chemistry and are looking for the best help you can get? You found it!

Hi, my name is Victor and I'm a professional chemistry educator and an academic coach. I've been helping students with all levels of chemistry (from high school to graduate school level) since 2004. I believe, I am one of the best professional chemistry tutors you can find (don't take my word for it, see my reviews and ratings!) and I offer an inordinate amount of value with my services.

I specialize in organic chemistry and will be happy to help you with any level coursework you have. I have published my research in the fields of inorganic chemistry, coordination chemistry, organic chemistry, organic mechanisms, and chemical education.

As I’m 100% committed to my students' success, I offer a flexible schedule and availability throughout the week and weekend and I'm infinitely available for feedback in-between the sessions. I will do all I can to help you master the course material, improve conceptual understanding of organic chemistry, and help you develop essential problem-solving skills necessary to excel in organic chemistry.

MY APPROACH:

I'm a very straightforward no-nonsense teacher. My job is to help you succeed in the hardest class in a college curriculum and I'll do whatever it takes to guide you towards this goal.

I use a multifaceted approach in my teaching to help my students. I bring clarity in organic chemistry by helping you review, organize, and systematize your chemistry knowledge into a coherent whole and I pride myself on my individualized and personalized approach to each student's needs. My goal is to help you master the concepts by teaching you how to break them down to fundamental principles and reconstruct them for yourself from ground-zero.

I'm very patient. I understand that you sought out organic chemistry tutoring because you're struggling with the subject. I also understand that learning organic chemistry takes time and considerable effort. Regardless of how hard or frustrating it can be, I'm on your side and I'm here to help you in this journey. I'm skilled at explaining concepts from different perspectives to accommodate your specific learning style. I pride myself on my rigorously individual approach to tutoring, tailoring my lessons to your individual needs, goals, and academic preparation. I routinely prepare customized testing and practice materials for my students targeting specific strengths and weaknesses

Ultimately, whatever your current level or aptitude is, your success is my primary objective. I'll give you a safe and comfortable place to learn, make mistakes, learn from them, and grow academically to the next level. I'll help you set long- and short-term goals and help you achieve the outcomes you want. I have a proven record of success of my teaching approach. Many of my students come to me with a C's or even a D's at the beginning of the semester or after the first test and leave with A's and B's! See Megan's or Taylor's review for an example of such an accomplishment. However, I don't see college tutoring to be a remedial tool. To me, it is rather like having a personal academic coach who helps you to succeed!

MY EXPECTATIONS and WORK ETHICS:

I'm a highly trained and specialized professional educator. As an active member of the American Chemical Society, American Educational Research Association, National Association for Research in Science Teaching, and American Association for the Advancement of Science, I abide by the honor code and the work ethics associated with my profession. As such, I do all I can to help my students succeed in their college career, however, it is student's responsibility to work hard and apply what I teach them.

Please, send me a message, and I'll be happy to answer any of your questions.

WHERE I TEACH:

Since I strive to provide the best learning experience to all my students, I have a private office conveniently located in Westminster, CO, right off Denver-Boulder turnpike, only a short drive from most North Range schools. By having students come to my office, I can provide a safe, quiet, and comfortable place to learn and accommodate any of my student's needs (tea, coffee, paper, pens, copy/scan services included!). For my online sessions, I use Wyzant's state-of-art online classroom whiteboard environment.

Best,
Victor

Policy reminder: I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. I understand that life happens, so I tend to be reasonably lenient about rescheduling. However, I'm a professional academic coach and teaching is my livelihood, so I expect my students to treat my appointments just like appointments with any other professional, such as a doctor, a therapist, or a lawyer.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Chemistry

I've been teaching college chemistry for 10+ years. I have an extensive training in chemistry:
BS and MS in Chemistry (Saint Petersburg State University, Russia), MS in Chemistry (Bowling Green State University, OH) and did my Doctorate Research in Chemical Education (University of Northern Colorado) focusing on students' learning chemistry. I'm also well versed in cognitive psychology and pedagogy (over 40 graduate credit hours).

I'm a seasoned education researcher and practitioner, and my research is focused on students' problems when learning chemistry. So, you can count on my teaching experience, content knowledge, and pedagogy knowledge to help you with any level of organic chemistry you need.

Organic Chemistry

I'm a professional full-time organic chemistry tutor with a doctorate in chemical education (emphasis on organic chemistry education and research) and two masters' degrees in organic chemistry and synthetic organic photochemistry. I've been teaching college chemistry since 2004 and specialize in Organic Chemistry and Advanced Organic Chemistry and Synthesis. I have an extensive training in chemistry (see my profile) and published my research in multiple fields of chemistry including organic chemistry, mechanisms of organic reactions, and chemical education. I'm also a practicing organic chemist and routinely consult for chemistry-related industries, schools, and businesses across the US. While being an educator, I'm still active in the research fields of chemistry and chemistry education and regularly appear at the national conferences on chemistry and chemical education.

The old saying really is true.

When I first read about Victor, I wasn't sure he would be worth the price for organic chemistry help. But it turns out the old saying really is true: you get what you pay for. He is very knowledgeable, dedicated, helpful, and a true gem. His teaching does not end when the lesson is over. He careful assesses the areas where he feels you need the most help and preps for the next lesson so that
