I am an engineer by background, and hold a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT. I have over 25 years of direct engineering and product design experience, along with over 8 years of volunteer and mentoring/coaching experience.
I spend approximately 30% of my free time volunteering throughout the community, and currently assist with teaching technology courses to kids, adults, and seniors at the Poudre Library District. In the past, I have served as a coach for Lego Robotics, Odyssey of the Mind, and Cub Scout Den Leader in the Poudre School District. Additionally, I have tutored many elementary students within various Poudre Elementary Schools (IB and Core Knowledge). I love to tutor and share my knowledge with anyone who is enthusiastic about learning, and often learn just as much or more myself in the process!
Holding a Master's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering has afforded me the opportunity to study most of the math courses offered in post secondary education, including Algebra (all levels), Geometry, Calculus (all levels), Differential Equations, Applied Mathematics, Matrix Theory, Linear Algebra, Statistics, and Numerical Methods for Computer Programming.
I have a background and many years experience in Mechanical Engineering, which was my major in college. Additionally, I am well versed in other engineering disciplines, such as Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Programming, Statistics, etc.
Please contact me if you are interested in seeking help with any STEM subject (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and we can discuss whether my background might be of assistance to you. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I hold a B.S. and M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering. Professionally, I have worked for 25 years in the engineering field, and am an expert in mechanical engineering topics. I have over 6 years of volunteering, mentoring and coaching young students as well as adults in many different academic fields of study, including science, computers, cub scouts, robotics, and general math tutoring in the classroom.
