About Sarah

I'm originally from Washington State, where my passion for teaching was sparked when as an undergrad I was selected to tutor my peers. At Eastern Washington University I was put in charge of designing supplemental labs to correspond with their undergrad coursework, giving students a hands on learning experience.
I moved to this area a few years ago and began working as a ski instructor at Steamboat Resort, uniting my love for skiing with my passion for teaching. I flourished in that environment and have stayed for multiple seasons! This past summer I worked for Community Youth Corps leading environmental education talks, and mentoring the teens of the Yampa Valley area. I also worked through Rocky Mountain Youth Corps at their Yampa Valley Science School. This school is required for all incoming 6th grade students to attend, and it's purpose is to get kids in nature with field trips, hands on learning, and education in Biology, Geology, and Hydrosphere. During my time at the camp I was in charge of all aspects of the Biosphere learning block, and could not have had more fun with these kids!

I myself am a hands on learner, visual cues are necessary for me to break through in my learning and as such I reflect that in my teaching. I bring the great outdoors into a class room setting the best I can and have had great results with students because of my approach.

I look forward to sharing my enthusiasm and love of science with my students!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Soccer

I was the Assistant Coach for two recreational U-10 and U-11 teams. I completed several hours of one on one shooting practice, drills, techniques, and have coached an indoor soccer team. I played Varsity/Premier Soccer leagues for 10 years.
