I moved to this area a few years ago and began working as a ski instructor at Steamboat Resort, uniting my love for skiing with my passion for teaching. I flourished in that environment and have stayed for multiple seasons! This past summer I worked for Community Youth Corps leading environmental education talks, and mentoring the teens of the Yampa Valley area. I also worked through Rocky Mountain Youth Corps at their Yampa Valley Science School. This school is required for all incoming 6th grade students to attend, and it's purpose is to get kids in nature with field trips, hands on learning, and education in Biology, Geology, and Hydrosphere. During my time at the camp I was in charge of all aspects of the Biosphere learning block, and could not have had more fun with these kids!
I myself am a hands on learner, visual cues are necessary for me to break through in my learning and as such I reflect that in my teaching. I bring the great outdoors into a class room setting the best I can and have had great results with students because of my approach.
I look forward to sharing my enthusiasm and love of science with my students!
