Matthew is, without question, the single best teacher I have ever had the pleasure of running across. I’ve scheduled and met with Matthew for literally dozens of times, and will continue to do so as long as I need help or have questions.

In fact, without Matthew’s help, I may have given up on math altogether. After struggling greatly with my Linear Algebra, Calculus, and Analysis classes, Matthew has taken me from not understanding anything at all to getting A’s on my tests (especially in Linear Algebra, something Matthew understands extremely well).

Matthew is always willing to find and schedule a time that works well for me, and has never shown up late. When we do meet, he is incredibly patient and always willing to explain things as many times and in as many ways as possible until I understand what’s going on. His knowledge of the subject allows him to explain concepts in many different ways; if one explanation doesn’t help me understand the concept or idea, he simply transitions to another explanation, and continues to do this until I fully understand what we’re discussing. In fact, his style of explanations often get to the roots of my misunderstandings in math. After working through these basic misunderstandings, I usually am able to fully see what I was doing wrong, and think correctly about how to approach and solve future problems.

My only complaint is that Matthew isn’t the person teaching my classes at school!

With full sincerity, thank you Matthew!

My lesson was understanding basic logic including negation, denials and truth tables. Matthew clearly explained the material in simple, easy to understand language. The hour flew by and I'm looking forward to our next session

My sessions with Matt were the most productive tutoring sessions I've ever had. He not only had a deep understand of every concept I was struggling with, but immediately knew how to effectively explain each concept to me both through abstractly analyzing the concept and giving excellent examples.

We worked on Jacobians. I went into the session really confused and left feeling confident in both the process of solving these types of problems and the conceptual side too.

I've been out of the school "scene" for a few years but need to take Linear Algebra as a one off class. Matt made sense when explaining topics and was very patient. Definitely recommend him for tutoring.

My daughter feels more confident and ready for her first midterm. Matt really has helped her feel better about her knowledge and capabilities.

Chatted with my son after his session with Matthew and he feels more confident with Calculus II. He is looking forward to next week for his next session. Thanks!!

Matt is an outstanding teacher to say the least. He is very professional, efficient and if you are interested in advanced math tutoring, he is the tutor. He is very busy but after the first class, we realized why he is in so much demand. He is a major resource and we would strongly recommend him for very advanced courses which he is a master at and it is nearly impossible to find excellent tutors. The skype class with the white board worked wonderfully.

Matthew has tutored my daughter twice now on-line. He is prompt, a good communicator, and has done an excellent job getting her up to speed to begin her High School AP Calculus course. I would recommend him highly.

I know on my personal experience, its hard to find a decent and affordable tutor especially when it comes to math. I am so glad that Matthew is my tutor now. He is very knowledgeable, patient, very very straightforward, clear, and helpful. I would HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend anyone who seeks a math tutor to come to Matthew because HE IS GREAT!

He works your pace but at the same time makes sure you understand what you are doing. He is proficient, prepared and very resourceful. He truly loves teaching math, I am glad to have him as my tutor.

Wish we had found him earlier. My son loved his first session with Mr.Matthew and told me he would explain the problem in a way that could understand. He is a great calculus tutor and is very professional. I strongly recommend him for tutoring.

Getting stuck with a bad teacher is an awful experience. They won't explain things enough and give bad lectures and make you feel stupid. Matthew is the exact opposite. He has shed so much light and clarity on mathematical proofs all while being respectful and fun to work with. He is so helpful, I wish he could come teach my college class instead of my current professor. If you are in need of college level mathematical tutoring, I cannot recommend Matthew enough.

In the few times that I've met with Matthew, each one has been excellent. He has taken the time to walk me through everything step by step while at the same time leaving things open to interpret what the next step of each problem may be. He's very understanding if you don't understand something and will take the time to explain it to you in multiple ways that may be more suited to your style of learning. He's very punctual on meeting at agreed times and quick to respond to personal messages. Overall, he's a great tutor and I would definitely recommend him for both Calculus III and Linear Algebra (both of the subjects I've personally taken with him).

Matt was extremely patient for someone who has been out of practice for a while. He understands math concepts very well and is able to elegantly explain them to someone who has major difficulties. I've scheduled another session with Matt and I am confident in recommending him.

He helped me through my homework and if I didn't understand something, he would explain it in an understandable way until he knew I understood it. He was extremely patient and very nice!!!

Matt has worked with me for many months now. He is the person I rely on to keep me going on my calculus classes. Thanks you his help I've advanced to Calculus II and feel confident I'll do well. Thanks Matt.

Calculus,
Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Since first taking Calculus over 10 years ago, I have helped hundreds of students wade through this sometimes baffling subject. Whether you need help with your algebra, or if you are trying to compute triple integrals in spherical coordinates, I am here to help you succeed.

Since I took my first course in differential equations eight years ago, I have helped dozens of students wade through this sometimes daunting subject. As an upperclassman I served as a supplemental instructor for the differential equations course, and since matriculating I have helped students both online and in-person with one-on-one tutoring in differential equations.

So, whether you are just trying to figure what a differential equation is, or if you are trying to solve higher order equations with Laplace Transforms, I can help you work towards mastery of this incredibly useful subject.

My first interaction with Linear Algebra came in middle school, when an intrepid teacher thought her class could handle the material. A more broad, formal course came in college, in which I earned an A. Since college, I have tutored dozens of students in linear algebra at a variety of levels.

Broadly, I find instructors take one of two approaches to linear algebra. One approach is to start with the definition of a linear transformation, and then proceed to build the definitions of vectors, matrices, vector spaces, linear independence, bases, orthogonality, eigenvectors, etc.

Other instructors start by demonstrating how matrix-vector multiplication represents a system of linear equations, and how to find solutions using elimination and back substitution. From there, they can work through the various matrix factorization (PA = LU, A = QR, A = S Lambda invS, A = Q Lambda Qtranspose, A = U Sigma Vtranspose, etc) using elimination as a guide and motivation.

One approach may be considered more theoretical, the other more applied. In any case, with a new student, I try to understand what approach their class is taking, and stay within the language of that approach. A first course in Linear Algebra is hard enough!
