I have been teaching school for 14 years in all grades from kindergarten to 12th grade, and the best part of all that is watching students learn and grow! To watch those students who have tried really hard and finally figured out what they were learning, is a joy. There are times in everyone's life where we meet something that is particularly hard for us, but we have to keep practicing. I want to be there for the times when something is hard and to help you figure out how to learn it in a way that makes sense to you. I want to teach you life-long learning skills that you can use the rest of your life.
As a mother, grandmother and a teacher, I understand students who struggle and may need extra help. Let me be the one to share the joy of learning with you.
I can teach all aspects of Language Arts from Kindergarten to 12th grade. I teach reading strategies, vocabulary, writing, spelling, grammar, literature, and more. I have a BA in English and a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction.
I also can teach math K-8th. I can teach math in a variety of ways for different learners, and make it easier to understand and enjoy.

Each of us has our own style of learning, and we need to figure out what that is. I can also reach out to other teachers and find out what is being taught in school so I can support the student in that way also. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
